You probably mean the worth of your comfort, but it's also the comfort and ease of collaboration of other people. Not that there's a whole lot of other people that could possibly get interested in contributing to an Angband variant, SVN or not...

svn diff | less, that I use a lot, is quite lower level than KDE kompare. Of course there are good SVN modes for emacs, but the Angband mood must be such that I prefer lower level, too. BTW, I find the diff mode of emacs really great for simultaneous comparing and editing. Never tried kompare (I'm a gnome-man, or rather FVWM and commandline).

I guess you'd find keeping the diary with the help of SVN really similar to what you do now. Iinstead of 'emacs my_secret_diary', you'd do 'svn ci' that fires up emacs (actually $EDITOR) automatically. The result would be more accurate, linked with actual code changes, at once online.
Meh. All still looking like too much work to learn

vim has automatic indentation, and the true one, ie. one tab per level. No two-spaces nonsense... Also this talk is rather off-topic in this thread

No, I don't have a clue 'bout C, and I'm not starting my own variant.

On the upside, though, no one's reporting bugs But maybe that means no one's playing

I have to buy a DS before I can play it, sadly...

I've tested the DS version but it's not actually playable.

It should be possible to test DS version on emulator but it's not very simple.

On windows with Ideas and patching the nds file for R4 revolution (download DLDItool and R4 patch). Then you should select R4 DLDI in Ideas options :

But after the first screen i have the error "Cannot parse terrain.raw" (or something like that, very difficult to read ).

I think it could be possible to test it on linux with wine, no$gba and FCSR image (cf this tutorial).

Edit : modify link for FCSR

It runs fine on my actual DS, using a CycloDS evolution card. If you are using the old faangband directory, you will need to replace it - usually that sort of error message means outdated edit files. If you had a savefile, it will be the PLAYER file in lib/save.

If this isn't the problem, I'm not sure what is - maybe some emulator issue?

Yes it runs fine on my hardware too (Supercard DSOne) it' s certainly a problem with emulator.

Just a mention from an earlier post that was missed. Not an emergency:

DS version also works on my max media dock. apart from visuals & controls, and the help system crashes if you use it, everything seems hunky dory

this one is mine, though. You can get to the main help screen, but it freezes if you try to go to any actual help...

It is a "good mushroom" blurb (all the Cure x mushrooms get it). There are probably a few object descriptions which could do with being a bit more specific.

And in this case, the answer is just hitpoints

Err, neither...I think I just didn't read your post carefully enough. I guess you mean that graphic tiles don't work, and the only way to control anything is by the dinky little keyboard (that's actually not quite true - the buttons do stuff, but it's basically random stuff to allow the game to even run). Both of these are current limitations of the port.

Step one was to get the game to actually work at all on the DS; that's done. Step two is to get it to be something that you would actually want to play on the DS (as NethackDS is, for example). Step three will then be to iron out bugs and add features. I have no timeline for steps two and three
