It looks like only one rod of healing doesn't want to stack:

I think there's a bug with Green Elves. The character creation screen always shows 3 hitpoints regardless of character class. If you choose any the HPs are displayed correctly on the main screen.

Also, as mentioned in the other thread and the ladder: Can Wiruin really breathe frost with aching numbers of damage?

Ii think that's just some weirdness with what the birth process is assuming when it starts.

                Wiruin is very, very nasty.

Comments on the birth process and queries about how much something can breathe. Hmm...

Yes it says in the description in the monster knowledge of my new char that Wiruin can breathe frost or sound.
In the description in the mon-info.spo file which I generated, it says it can breathe lightning and sound.

Where does the difference come from?

That's very odd - the spoiler file is wrong, but I can't see why that would happen. I will check some more.

All right, I have tracked down the spoiler issue - which turned out to be a massive quantity (seriously 150ish) of occurrences when I had used monster flags instead of spell flags and vice versa. Luckily, most of them were in the spoiler code, but there were also a few others. For example, I had vaguely noticed that novice shapeshifters never shapeshifted - now I know why.

Thank you for that. And don't believe the spoilers - they're all lies.

(v1.44) Dark bolt does not beam
I'm running a Lvl24 petty-dwarven necromancer, and in book (b) (Dark Initiation) it says "b) Dark Bolt Lv 8 Mana 3 Fail 5% dam 6d8, beam 14% ... yet I haven't seen it beam once.

(v1.44) Necromancer spell list is boring
First I use spell A in book A to kill things, then spell B in book B, then spell G in book C {why not spell C, would be easier to remember }, as mana allows.
It seems the spells use different damage types, but they scale so badly with level, that I rather use a spell from a higher-level book against resist, than a low-level spell that is not resisted.

(v1.44) Necromancer spells mana costs need balancing on lower levels at least
Generally, without Magestaff I would run out of mana before killing things at all (most monsters show up in groups, it seems, or have rediculous HP).
And with Soul Siphon (seemed thematically fitting to me), there are small windows of opportunity where you can one-shot easy monsters for (nearly) as much mana as the spell cost, but most times, it doesn't do much.
Just fought 10 hill orcs, which came after me one after another, and for the last 3 I had to resort to my trusty Long Bow of Accuracy to put them down, as melee isn't really an option with that char.

(v1.44) I'm missing rods of light - of illumination are getting annoying to use
Haven't found one yet - did you remove them from the game in 1.4? Using RoI every 5 steps gets really annyoing, especially in dungeon corridors. And this can't be for realisms sake - a RoI can permanently light up hall no matter what its size, yet lighting up some straight corridors is impossible unless you do it piece by piece?
This is a pretty hefty nerf for spellcasters and bow users, btw., which IMHO didnt deserve it.

No, I don't have a clue 'bout C, and I'm not starting my own variant.

Nice catch - that's completely broken. It will indeed not beam.

As a necro (mainly in O, but the same applies to FA), my main attack spell is Dispel Evil. That's enormously powerful, especially with Soul Siphon. Necros, in early- to mid-game especially, work best by getting amongst monsters and then using dispel or Noxious Fumes. Of course, as a Petty-Dwarf, you have to be really careful not to die

(continuing from the end of this dump) elliptic also had this happen. We think it is to do with the water Morgy creates with his storms. I think it might have only started happening after the vision changes, perhaps. I don't remember encountering it before then and it happened my last two wins. Normally I wouldn't be so cheap but I was in a lazy mood and felt like letting him dance around while a black reaver wailed on me and a storm of unmagic hung back breathing time.

I think the terrain was something like this, can't say for sure since there were a few monsters around blocking squares:

                              Code:
                              ......
                              ..~...
                              ..~...
                              .~P@..
                              ......
                              ......

I had some fun making vaults a while back. I've been holding on to them for a while, only now got around to playing a game to try test them naturally. Add any you like.

I'm not sure if you'd be interested but that game was also testing some changes to monster.txt, primarily changing the wraith uniques. Details of that. I liked how they turned out. They felt a little like milestones, once you get to their depth they show up very quickly (especially Uvatha teleporting to you and Adunaphel moving through walls) and they were respectably tough, I had to drop !healing on them all. The other stuff was mainly whimsy so I won't bother you with it, though I will say that Smaug definitely doesn't have stats befitting of a DL90 unique and Draugluin has melee tamer than Mim.

Haven't played 1.4 but targeting a rod of light, for purposes of illumination, can get annoying in FA's slanted straight passageways (wilderness).
