Hi Nick, I found a bug in 1.4.1 where the priest spell labels (from the Godly Insights book) for probing and perception are swapped. What I mean is, the probing spell is labeled as perception and the perception spell is labeled as probing. I'm not sure if this has been fixed in the latest version yet as I'm still playing a game from 1.4.1 and don't want to upgrade mid-game, but wanted to at least mention it so I don't forget.

Apologies if this has been mentioned already, but if I use ?55, to access the help/exploring/map of middle earth, the game says cannot open map.txt.

I'm used to using that for planning out long treks. Is there a different way now, or what is going on here? I'm still using the same old Windows XP I always have.

Text map is obsolete due to Buzzkill made a graphical map, and it in turn is obsolete due to wilderness changes.

I believe it's available from my sig and also distributed as a png with FA itself. Gotta run (*needs confirmation).

It's a bug. The file was updated and renamed, and the new name didn't get used everywhere. You can find it in lib/help, where it is now called "mapmode.txt"

Hello, I just found another gate to nowhere town. This time it manifested itself in the form of a down staircase at lvl 30 of Amon Ruhd. I second guessed my belief that lvl 30 was the bottom and took the staircase down. This was with ver 1.4.4.

Was the staircase generated with the level, or was it stair creation? Or after killing Mim?

It was generated with the level. I had not encountered Mim yet at that point.

I'm hanging around in Nargothrond, current charlevel 36. I am reluctant to take on the boss fight. While I can't find decent foot gear there seems to be an abundance of DSMs (thematically appropriate, I suppose ^^).
Tried out 1.4,4 to fix the history bug. The dump still displays characters with accents as odd symbols.

I keep thinking I've fixed that...

The scroll of acidproofing has no visible icon. I am playing with the Gervais tileset. After identifying an unknown scroll on the floor it became invisible.

Also, the announcement "Robert Ruehlma, the Deathlord thunders ..." has robbed poor Robert of his two "n"s. ^^
