Yeah, I've never seen it with tiles either. It looks so... busy! It's a damn shame you fell through a trap door before you got to the chewy center of this particular tootsie pop. Yummies are inside. You are on something strangeComment

Tis a thing of great beauty, HM.
I had to disarm all of the hundreds of traps because there were goodies under (on top of?) many of the traps, and as I didn't have a staff of object location I had to try and disarm them all. I suppose it was inevitable I'd fall through a trapdoor eventually!Comment

Been enjoying 1.4.1, playing in connected dungeon mode - thanks for the great variant.
One oddity or possible bug I've noticed is that the activations on randarts seem pretty poor. For example, I've just found the following powerful randart:
The Broad Sword 'Slepnir' (4d5) (+20,+23) <+6, +5>
Dropped by a Blue dragon in Tol-In-Gaurhoth Level 82.
6 constitution. 5 speed.
It slays evil creatures, undead, giants and dragons. Branded with cold.
Provides resistance to electricity(50%).
Powers: Blessed by the gods. Slows your metabolism. Prevents
paralysis.
Cannot be harmed by acid, electricity, fire, cold. When activated, it
reduces your charisma.
Takes 880 turns to recharge at your current speed.
Your chance of success is 95.5%
I think this is the second randart I've found with this activation, so there may be something odd happening with the assignment of activations.
In any event, wouldn't it be better to just give no activation rather than a negative one? It is not like they are hidden until used or anything.
Regards,
JonathanComment

That's a pity. I wanted to see if Nick could really trick his players into activating artifacts that are known to lower their charisma!Comment

Hi Nick, hi folks, long tome not seen
Sorry to come back here only to bitch about this and that that doesn't work like expected in FAA 1.41win ...
Startup
"Hit any key to continue" ... and I can hit keys all day long, I only get to the 2nd screen when I actually click into the main window?!
Starting a new game
(always chose "extended wilderness" .. thats how I got to know FAA, and got to love it ..)
- the "permanent game modes" windows is poor, as it is un-intuitive and hard to read even after you have understood how it is supposed to work ...
- Somehow in the beginning always a "Female Easterling Warrior, Lvl 0, Max HP 25443" shows up in the char stats (term-2) ...
- Likewise, later on all points are already distributed to attributes ...
- Beornings seems to start at map lvl 17, 2 north of Amon Rûdh, unless you suicide them, and then restart from the "dead" savegame .. then you're put in Gladden Fields (as the help file suggests)
Cheers
S.No, I don't have a clue 'bout C, and I'm not starting my own variant.

Starting location
A petty dwarf started on "Ered Luin 26", 13 maps nord of Belegost, instead of "Ered Luin South" (Town lvl 0), got inevitably killed, and on reload ended up where he belonged.
So it looks like all initial starting locations are off when making a new char, but somehow are set correctly when reusing the save file of a dead char ...
Throwing
Does it work? Is it supposed to work? Shooting same-level monsters with 0/0 sling and 0/0 ammo works quite ok, (Beoring Rogue with DEX 18/20), but throwing +4/+5 Daggers does ... nothing but stacking the daggers under the monster?!

Underground2Dungeon
On "Eriador 10" I dropped through a trap door (how can a batform drop down a hole in the ground? ... more complainer stuff I guess . At least the bat-intrinsic featherfalling worked so I didn't get damage ...) and the only way to get out of underground alive was to recall to Eriador Town.
Upon recalling to wilderness I landed on the surface, not underground (as expected), and the map shows a dungeon here?!
I thought only "real" dungeons" show up as (Dungeon) on the map, but ... :No, I don't have a clue 'bout C, and I'm not starting my own variant.
