So not like v4 then. Definitely not.

It's kind of a cool experiment

Ghengiz and I are working on this project, very much along the lines outlined in this thread. We have a playable game - happy to send anyone a review copy if they are interested in playtesting...

You sound the very image of reasonableness! I'll message you when I get the chance.

I'm just starting to work on the edit files now. would anyone like to help. it is not difficult although some familiarity with the format certainly helps.

Those attacks are still there (to the extent that they feature on the cut down monster list. I don't think there are any big nexus attacks left)

Cool- that makes sense. I could definitely see a poison blade, but cold arrows are harder to picture.

The additions to shields and cloaks were just personal preference/imagination. You'd hide behind a shield to protect against burning/caustic attacks. The cloak would be a thick, tough cloak that would warm you but could also shield you from fire.

After I suggested that, I remembered your emphasis on making resistances less trivial to cover, so probably doesn't fit with your design.

The addition of SI to the amulet was partly because I was suggesting ditching the SI ring. I could picture it fitting with rConf- basically an amulet of perception that kept your mind clean and revealed hidden things.

    a few ego suggstions:

    remove =SI
Add "Magic Lantern" (+1 bright, SI)

make the cloak rFire + rCold

make the shield rFire + rAcid

add SI to the rConf amulet.

will Defender give AC boost? (maybe equivalent to a similar shield)
Melee weapons - fire / cold, slay animals / orcs / trolls + giants / evil
Ammo - fire / poison, slay evil / undead / dragons / demons

    Defender - yes

Why the changes to the cloak, shield and amulet?

The theory is that the lighting bolt comes down on your head, you see, so a tin hat is useful. Or something like that.
