I can compile that version on my vaio p netbook (ubuntu), which should be slower than your p4. I also haven't run the game much on my C2D 2.4GHz, I'll see if I can reproduce any slowdown on it also.
I'm not sure I've mentioned, it, but thanks for running nightlies; it really helps suss out bugs before they affect a lot of people. r248 is a potential alpha, as my list of enhancements and gameplay changes I want done before 1.0.2 is now finished, so it's especially important now.

Hi again, i'm not sure if this is related to the issue above; running UP or repeatedly pressing walking key(NUMKEY 8 or arrow up) makes for hi cpu usage(i'm on a 2.4 p4) and consequently lag.I'm at revision 248.I'm not sure when i figured this out, i will try some other revisions, could you have a look on linux(hope you have a slow machine).Sorry about hoping for that.Leave a comment:

Could you test r229. I think I had insufficient parentheses. If that doesn't work, let me know and I'll redact r215 and r229, as it was just supposed to be a code improvement with no actual change.Leave a comment:

On the ground: 21 Bolt of Hurt Evil (2d3) (+9,+9)
NO! As you load the bolt, it changes horribly!

A Greedy Request
Could it be arranged for uniques to not have freakin' skeletons as their drops? Like, ever? Even if it's an (admittedly impressive) Mumak skeleton?Leave a comment:

r215
After r215 left SHIFT don't work as expected, can't run can't SHIFT+q to quit and save; instead it goes to charecter screen.Right Shift performs all normal functions(as far as i can tell) except running. This is the SDL port on linux.Leave a comment:

Hmmm.
More details:
I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit, if there are different versions), and I installed SAngband outside the "protected area" of the Program Files directory so that Windows would not block save files and config file changes.
I downloaded the zip of the precompiled version on November 15th, if that matters.
I've also noticed a related bug ... if I turn off "highlight player with cursor", and open an information window such as inventory, then when I go back to the map, instead of the player graphic I see a square cut-out of the text of the info window.
Is there any more information that might help you, or does it seem likely that something in windows is not playing nicely with SAngband? This is a new computer, and I've hardly installed anything on it yet besides Avast anti-virus, OS updates, and WoW.
Thanks for looking into this!Leave a comment:

Oook linewraps on 80th column. Oook needs to linewrap, some dumps contain very long lines. The winner is T.o.M.E. dump with unwrapped character background text running 272 chars.Leave a comment:

Speaking of bugs, not-terribly-long lines (less than one line with big fonts) of notes added via ":" are
a. cut off short in the dump
b. unaesthetically wordwrapped on ooook at an even shorter length than that. (Pav Pav Pav Pav Pav)
Should I provide more info on this?
*EDIT* Also a second bug, Windows-only perhaps? I can't include the character "?" in a note. Maybe I shouldn't be asking questions in notes though :-)Last edited by Bostock; November 25, 2010, 08:49.Leave a comment:
