Gave it a quick try, it seems really fun. I actually like the idea of HP being limited like it is. The rats got me and did seem overpowered, but maybe I should have attacked the first rat instead of the goblin.....Comment

Had it crash on death for me in the current (1.4) build. A cave bear down on level 5 or so killed me, and before I got the options to quit, exit, whatnot, I got a pretty generic error from windows 7, asking if I'd rather quit the program, or let it keep running. I let it keep running, but I couldn't do anything, the after-death options never appeared, and I had to force-quit the game anyway. After force-quitting, I re-loaded the game, but it didn't load from my death, but from the death that's there when you start playing (from a clean 1.4 install).Comment

If you haven't started a new character yet, or if this issue happens again, please send me your savefile. In Windows 7 you should be able to find it in the following location:
C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\Local\Cryptband\save.xml
Note that the AppData folder is hidden, so you won't be able to see it unless you turn on hidden folders. My e-mail address is rogercnorris at gmail.com.Comment

Version 1.5 has been posted, and the download link is at the top of the thread.
I am now happy with melee. The counterattack trait has been improved so that it's partially effective even when not parrying, and that change alone has made melee characters much more viable. They're probably the 2nd easiest character to win with (mages are the easiest IMO).
Code:Cryptband v1.5 -------------- * Fixed: Status bar did not display "Paralyzed" when paralyzed * Fixed: Status bar did not update after recovering from stun * Changed: Items in your inventory can no longer be destroyed by the elements. * Changed: Counterattack trait is now partially effective even when the player is not parrying. * Changed: Removed Heal spell from Count Orlok, though he can still recover HP over time * Changed: Reduced Count Orlok's HP by 16% * Changed: Reduced the probability of a monster recovering from confusion and paralysis. These effects should now last longer on average. * Changed: Reduced price of items of Finesse * Changed: Increased price of items of Protection
