    So you hate the very existence of meticulous players and want to turn them into more divers.

    This reduction in player variety is not a good thing. The existence of One True Strategy is a sign of shallowness and should be avoided. Things like platformers and solitaire and badly balanced RTSs have only one viable strategy. It's not something to aspire to. Converting other people to the dominant strategy when the option is there to make the game balanced between multiple strategies makes you part of the problem.

    Low turn count wins used to be the province of elite players and people with lucky early finds. Now they're the only thing anyone does because the accumulated risks of slow play are relatively too high. Or equivalently the relative risks of being past your normal safe depth are too low.

      So, I've been thinking some more and came up with a more radical idea.

      Persistent (last) recall level: The level you recall from gets saved. When you recall to, you resume where you left off even reappearing in the same place that you left. I suppose that existing enemies will have to fully heal and new monsters will probably spawn as well.

      Pro: It doesn't accelerate of retard your rate of descent.
      Pro/Con: Recall can't be used as an escape as easily as before. An alternate means of reentry (deep descent, stairs) may be necessary if you were really in over your head.
      Pro: You can leave a level with good stuff on it (vaults), clean out your pack, then return for more.
      Pro: You can leave a level and re-kit to kill a particular unique.

      I have a feeling that despite my built in precautions (enemies healing, spawning), this approach to WoR may still be exploitable. It seems that one might have to disallow consecutive recalls from the same level. One and done.

      This excercise is mostly just for fun. I'm just fleshing out ideas that are rolling around in my head. I appriciate feedback, be it positive or negative, but I'm not seriously suggesting that these ideas be implemented by V or any variant, not that I'd object if any of them were.

        I don't like this idea; stairs down--and their magical equivalents--are one of the important resources in this game. You shouldn't be able to go down a level for no risk and 200 dungeon turns + 500GP. Especially at hound depth....

          This may have potential. Replace the consecutive recall prevention with a delay: no tele-level, recall, or deep descent from a level you've recalled to. The only way out would be to find a stairway.

          That way taking a level in multiple trips entails real risks that are worse the more you've dived.

            For DaJ players (tile users) I have made a somewhat significant addition to the 32x32 tile set. This is (hopefully) the first of several big upgrades that will occur over the course of the next couple of weeks. You can find it at the usual place. Please be sure to grab the more recent version.               When was methodical play ever a viable choice? Or rather how has the game changed to make it a bad choice.?

              Personally I feel that methodical play could work...its just boring, some people even say that its risky. Again I don't think its risky as long as you are detecting or have ESP. But if you dive...then you take more risks like being insta killed. However you can control those risks using tried and true methods like detecting, TO,*destruct*,create doors,ASC and other things that I forgot.

                ... and here it is. Only about ten new tiles added. All known uniques (except for one) are accounted for. I've still a bunch of tiles created and ready to add, I just can't seem to get motivated. Probably less so now that my current DaJ character is concluded.

                  Well, no work today, so I took the opportunity to another 15-20 tiles. Available now. Still more to come, just not sure when. Enjoy.

                    RePosBand 6.3 tile set

                    I posted an improved tile set for RePosband 6.3. It just adds tiles for the new RePos monsters, mostly drakes, wyrms and ogres (and few other changes).

                    I'll planning to add new floor tiles too, just to give RePos it's own "look".

                    Just a handful of tiles finished so far and only ~20 more to go, so hopefully I'll have the whole thing finished by the end of the year.

                      Another update. Finished off all the wyrms (except chaos, law, and balance) and dragon uniques (I think). In any case, it's more complete that the old one, though you may not notice it unless you're very deep.
