When my potion of speed spills onto a nearby monster, is it supposed to be a limited duration effect as it is for me, or permanent? Because it seems to be permanent for the monster.

That is, graphic updates thanks to Buzzkill, and Fenrir. He's been churning out some really nice tiles lately. FYI, the wilderness scenery has been re-worked (mostly complete). I hope whoever gives a damn, likes it, cause it's staying that way.

There seems to be something wrong with the "domination" spell (Psiocinist). Monsters are shown as "friendly" (when i move the pointer over them), but they are not pets. They don't follow etc (and are not shown as current pets).

:That's right, they are made friendly, not pets. This is because true pets are expected to unsummon themselves at some point, whereas monsters you charm (or Dominate) are simply friendly.

            Hallucination crash

Hi, I'm getting a repeated crash whenever my character hallucinates. In 0.3.2 it simply crashes but when I tried my savefile with earlier versions (I thought it wouldn't work - i just wondered what would happen) it reported something like, "Too many monster classes (1071)" and then crashed. Is this a known bug or something particular to my laptop setup? Cheers.

This is a known bug that sometimes causes crashes while hallucinating. It has something to do with the 'random uniques' that were introduced in 3.2. Per Mango's instructions, the fix is to (s)earch a time or two, in order to reseed the random number generator. Once the hallucination wears off, you should be fine.

              I hope that helps .

Thanks - I'll give it a go. The problem is that it usually crashes before I can enter a command but I'll cross my fingers and load it up a couple of times in the hope it'll work itself out.

EDIT: It crashes before I can enter any command. It displays the pre-hallucination set-up, tells me I can learn 12 new spells and crashes, I presume, just as the hallucination is about to kick in. The problem might me that I'm surrounded by 18 visible monsters and presumably a number of out of sight ones too.

Do you have 0.3.2 or 0.3.2pre1? I thought I had fixed that bug.

If you do have 0.3.2, I'll work this into a patch soon. In the meantime, if you send me your save file I'll see if I can get you out of the mess on my development version.

Cheers for that, that's very good of you. It's 0.3.2(beta) according to the splashscreen. I'll get the savefile across to you - it may be an unusual instance that proves illuminating.

                    Thanks again

Having a few bugs. Some times a monster gets created underneath you on the stairs. This causes cashes when the monster wakes up. Might want to just always purge monsters on stairs at creation to fix this.

Death magic death rays do not work. Normal hrus, mystics, etc should not be immune. It is basically a completely useless spell atm which is a real problem since it is supposed to be one of the strengths of death magic.

Major complaint about finding guarded dungeons in the wilderness of level 7-9. There is just not a lot you can do if you accidently run across maeglins aggro range on the wilderness map. You should cap the level of guards at something reasonable. Cyberdemons in the wilderness is not reasonable, neither are any of the heavy summoners. I like the idea of a guard but either make it a single creature or cap the level at dangerous wilderness

Books are a little too expensive. You should never want to buy a scroll of alchemy instead of selling at a store.

It works... rarely. I agree that it's [almost] completely useless. It fails too often vs. anything worth killing, and costs too much mana to risk it. On average it's slower (since it takes so many tries) and less efficient (costs lots of mana) than other attack spells, making it impractical.

The only semi-practical application of death ray that I can think of is a quick way to kill a low-level monster with lots of HP that has a nasty attack you're afraid of. Otherwise why bother wasting so much mana on a low-level monster?

Generally, I think Death magic is already extremely powerful. It doesn't need a huge boost. But it would be nice if this spell had some interesting uses... something creative

Why are vortexes able to be stunned. It seems to me that they should be immune to stunning.

The consume energy mutation is not working with rods. for some reason it always thinks a rod is already discharged.(cannot drain a discharged rod)

A scroll of artifact creation does not accept very many targets. Regular rings, amulets and lights should be coded to work since they are already coded to work for randarts. Dragon scale mail should also be a legitimate target though it should heavily favor immunities instead of the normal track. Randart rings and amulets are overly rare now, you overdid it reducing the number of them.

opinions- Holy needs spear of light and recharge, it seems to be a bit weak. the nature spell for traveling in the wilderness should be level 20 or so, in the 40s is ridiculous. Your spell learning system skews the powerful spells to much. I understand what you are trying to do but there is no need, one trick ponies are supposed to have a good trick and get what they deserve usually anyway Also your specialization levels skew the power curve of the high end spells to much. The best spell should not be a level ~25. I would let them increase their spec on a spell every level and would do away with the whole slot system.
