About macros: From what I've read in the source, it looks for user.prf, then user-win.prf for base prefs, then it looks for more character specific ones - it will attempt to load .prf files with your character's race or class name, then it looks for a .prf file with your current character's name (ignoring the savefile name), then it looks for .prf files for your chosen spell realms. If you're playing on the same savefile with characters with different names (which will happen if you're playing the Touhou uniques), your old player prefs might not load.

No clue on that, sorry - I don't have that keyboard layout. Does it work in older Heng versions for you? If it wasn't working back then, this variant wouldn't fix it.Comment

Oh weirdly enough the keys do work on Hengband 1.6.2 japanese and english versions from this site. But yeah doesn't work in japanese gensoband eitherComment

Found a fix for special character keys not working on azerty keyboards. If you switch to qwerty all keys will work, and I made a small autohotkey script to swap all relevant keys to the azerty layout. Here is what you need to do if you need those characters (@ macros, { } inscriptions, ~ knowledge menu etc.):
- Switch your keyboard language setting to qwerty in Windows
- Install latest autohotkey (2.0+).
- Download the attached .txt file (gensouband_rebind_azerty.txt) and change its extension from .txt to .ahk
- Double click to run it. Now keys you see/type on your azerty keyboard will correspond to ingame keys when Gensouband is open. 1-0 keys are accessible without SHIFT and relevant alt gr keys are accessible with SHIFT.
- [OPTIONAL] Add the script to your start folder so you don't have to run it every time you restart your PC. It's also safe to keep running in the background, script only rebinds keys when Gensouband is open and is the current window.
