Creative uses for the worst items in the game

So I was thinking of creative uses for the worst items in the game and came up with one.

    Wand of Heal Monster:
Playing as a necromancer. Find a zombified orc or some tough, but relatively unthreatening undead monster. Get it to follow you to pack of scary monsters. Use your offensive spells to kill the scary monsters. Tap unlife to recharge your mana battery from our pet zombie. When the zombie starts getting a bit low on health then simply charge him up with the heal monster wand for free mana recharges and continue killing the scary monsters. It's like a complicated and (more or less) useless version of restore mana.

I have been known, especially when playing Mages, to abuse -Clone Monster on D's to farm items, especially potions.

Not that there aren't enough Dragons, Drakes and Wyrms anyway.

I've done the same with Draconic Q's...

    ("Summon already, dammit!")

Hmm, maybe zap a black ooze or other multiplying monster with a drop to make it multiply faster? Never tried this, so don't know if this will work.

Speed up a weak monster (e.g. blue yeek) so that it reaches your corridor before the fast monster you are not equipped to handle yet (e.g. stegocentipede). Bonus points if you sleep the yeek.

Will not work against monsters that can push past weaker monsters.

This way, a druj in a hockey stick position could technically lead into having a local source of infinite mana. If only a necromancer had a knock-back spell, this could actually be useful

Nice job. Also, I love the little disclaimer at the end. Warning, do not try against the Tarrasque

Not a worst item. In fact, a pret-durn nice item.

I was farming dl98 (need more CON, and want it in my " slot) and realized that @ is running around at 83% Fed and with SDig on a ring that also gives +15 speed. The ring stays on.

Fed 83% is nice for farming, but when I go up against Sauron and Morgoth, I'm gonna need to start pounding !*Healing* like Coors Light at a frat party.

                What do?

Then I remembered the home inventory contained this randart:

                the Band 'Aethorn' <+6, +5, +3, +1> (charging)
Found lying on the floor of a cavern at 2400 feet (level 48)

                +6 wisdom.
                +5 stealth.
                +3 tunneling.
                +1 movement speed.
Provides resistance to acid, fire, sound.
                Provides protection from blindness.
                Cannot be harmed by lightning.
                Prevents paralysis.

When activated, it makes you very hungry but restores constitution
                and strength.
Takes 155 to 171 turns to recharge at your current speed.
Your chance of success is 89.7%

Not a worst item, but creative.

                (More like stupid randart tricks...)

Good old randarts. I had one yesterday that when activated it cured blindness, not a bad trick except for the fact the item also had protection against blindness

Darn, I was hoping for a "can't activate items while blind" caveat.

On April Fool's Day the alchemist should sell scrolls of cure blindness and confusion.

I regularly find randarts with April Fool's activations. I had a main gauche that activates to cure blindness and confusion... but it also had protection against blindness and confusion.

You can have it as a swap and if a monster surprises you with a confusing/blinding spell then after changing weapon you can also cure your illness. Not likely to happen but not totally useless.

always ensure that you have a stack of worthless arrows/consumables that can hopefully get blown up before your important items due to rng

I've never heard of this trick. Does it work?
