    have a laugh on me

i thought in these hard times you could all use a good laugh at my expense.

I've been waiting for my holiday for nearly two years. Been otherwise working as hard as a man can, and finally, the first proper holiday is ... ages, i decided to go visit my old friend in Argentina.

4 days after landing the president issues a decree that all foreigners need to self-quarantine, on pain of arrest and extradition, for 14 days. Ugh. Ok, that's 2/3 of my holiday. Then, as my quarantine ends... the whole country goes into shutdown.

AND we are still all quarantined. Only allowed to go out to buy food, otherwise we're locked home.

Home being an AirBnB which thankfully, is fairly cheap.
My work won't even reply to my emails.
I have no idea when I'm gonna be able to return to the UK, or if i will have a job once I'm there.

But on the bright side i've managed to get two winners in a row.

How y'all coping with the quarantine?

    You're still in Argentina?

My quarantine has been kinda nice. Been working 60 hours a week since October up until last Thursday when my quarantine started. I work one-on-one with a person with developmental special needs and on Thursday my guy starts sneezing a lot so I bring him home early. Later in the day I get a call that his sister tested positive. So then he gets tested and I'm still waiting to hear back whether he tested positive or not. I've been healthy myself, tho; no symptoms of any kind (except an occasional single sneeze).

I'm planning on going for a bike ride tomorrow (it's been eight days!) so really looking forward to that. I've killed off a lot of @s in the past week, and getting Angband to work with background colors has been really nice.

      Grotug--
Get tested. You don't want to give it to any friends or family members. But worse, don't give it to a store clerk. Stores are quickly going into delivery/curbside pickup model; some stores ONLY have this now, like Best Buy.

And most especially--here's hoping that you stay healthy through this.

Good luck to you both! It sucks to be quarantined on a foreign country where you have no friends or family. At least you have internet, right?

I am currently locked up and working from home, in the Italian province with the highest number of confirmed cases. Luckily my interactions with the outside world are very limited.

I've been extra careful since I have both heart and lung issues. Would be massively dangerous to catch the virus. Been washing my hands so much that soon my nails are gonna fall off. I shop groceries with gloves on. Also, it's really weird to learn not to touch your face at all.
School is closed and studying is done completely in net.

Anyways, wish you guys for the best.
            Stay strong, Sky!

I'm still working since I'm considered essential, I work in a pharmacy. Trying to be extra careful with extra sanitizing and washing hands. Still playing Angband in evenings and weekends to relieve stress.

As an aside, we (USA and the rest of the world) should be testing everyone, but only those with symptoms here are getting tested.

uh .. it's not the best feeling, i tell you.

Grotug, if you can, get tested. if you cannot, isolate yourself. CV19 is a weird beast, it can leave some people symptomless, and some in near coma, but even if you are well, you could still infect people (assuming you are infected).

My internet leaves a lot to be desired, and my laptop monitor is teeeeeeny. My mammoth 27 inch is back in the UK and from the looks of it, i won't see it for a long while.

On a side note, the people in argentina are so nice. The UK is great n all but people aren't so .. personal.

If you do go out, watch your wallet. The only time I've had something stolen while traveling was in Buenos Aires. Though I hope the thieves are staying at home too.

We did meet plenty of friendly people there. And great food. I hope you have access to takeout restaurants.

Thanks for the compliment! I hope you can visit the country again, in a better context...

wohoo third winner out of four characters: http://angband.oook.cz/ladder-show.php?id=23433&ok

three warriors. Dwarf, Dunedain, and now human. The downside of humans levelling up so quickely is that you don't find yourself with as many consumables once you reach depth. In fact, i think this is the smallest number of potions of Heal and *Heal i've fought Morgoth with.

oh yeah, i forgot to mention, i've actually been "rescued".

given that, i work with an insurance company, specifically with the department that arranges repatriations .. im sure you can see where this is going ...

yeah, so they managed to book me onto a rescue flight organized by the french government (no, im not french), and i've been back since tuesday.

still, given that the whole UK is under lockdown, it's not much different here. And, they dont have beer for a pound the pint. But at least i have my 27 inch monitor.
