    Throwing rare potions?

Out of curiosity... !*Healing* says "can be thrown at creatures with damaging effect".

I've never actually tried this, though it's been around for a long time; always seemed likely to be a waste of a valuable and somewhat rare potion. Does it do enough damage to ever actually be worth doing? Maybe this is something to test out after winning, when you're no longer feeling the need to hoard them...

Oddly enough only on *healing & life potions, some sort of legacy effect?

Heh, I wouldn't throw one at the enemy, even if it did twice the damage of full-leveled mana storm.

If potions of detonations still exist, they do 25d25 damage for obvious reasons.

Detonations potions no longer exist because we don't want players to be scared that drinking unidentified potions will deal 25d25 damage to them.

That said, I wouldn't be opposed to having an item that's overtly a throwable/slingable bomb of some kind that explodes on impact. It'd be a single-use shards/sound ball, I guess, and appropriately powerful for its depth. ToME2 has explosive ammo, but I remember that being pretty disappointing. It probably had to be weak because it comes in large stacks.

Someone changed rogues in master to be chuckas, From this:
                Code:
                skill-throw:66:30
                to this:
                Code:
                skill-throw:72:45
so it would be nice for them to have something to actually throw.

Is there lore in Tolkien's world for exploding stuff? Peter Jackson's special effects don't count.

                      @wobbly, re rogues

Throwing knives maybe? It would make thematic sense.

Yes, it would. I'm not sure I'll get around to throwing for 4.2.

Bilbo, the "rogue" of "The Hobbit" was a natural stone thrower, apparently, managing to kill monstrous Mirkwood spiders just by whipping stones at them with nothing more than his bare hands.

I doubt you'll find the same luck if you make a hobbit rogue and have him throw stone ammunition at Mirkwood spiders, though.

For precisely this reason I considered giving pebbles the THROWING flag when I introduced throwing weapons. For some reason I then thought it was a bad idea; I might re-examine that.
