I had a suggestion ages ago for a "vent" monster, which would be an immobile monster that periodically breathed a weak exotic element. So there'd be, like, chaos vents, nexus vents, nether vents, water vents, plasma vents, time vents, etc. The damage would be negligible, but you'd get hit by the side effects. The idea was that players unfamiliar with high elements would have an opportunity to get hit by them in a relatively "safe" way before they encountered the enemies that use them and are actually threatening. Basically an immobile vortex with lower health.
So I went and made jellies chests for any early game potions I wanted to keep but not drop later on. Now I'm after something that makes sense for wands. Plants is 1 obvious choice but surely there is better? Saplings will do for staves
Ah of course I use derakons vents but they need a better name.
So chests have guards(friends), loot(drops), traps(spells/melee). Do they need something else?
Locks? I can certainly do timers with spell-freq & tele-level. Ah of course, Q-chests
And so I don't swallow another thread: which is junk !life or !*heal. My opinion is the 2nd if life is a bit more common.
Also a good gague of min. Clvl for Sauron from some one who plays more V
So there's these troll critters & there pretty good when they 1st start showing up. Hard hitting brutes with a weakness. Then they go. Snooze. Snooze. Priest. Snooze.
Edit: They're not there
Edit2: Ug, when did I forget how to grammar. They're instead of there. Though the above works too.
Edit3:I think this is what bothers me in Vs list. What's in it is often good. But I feel the dungeon is trying to kill me by lulling me to sleep. Usually it wins that war.
So that list automatically creates thematics where monsters mesh dynamically in an interesting way. See early p critters. See skeletons paired with light vulnerable. See demon pits with tengus in them. This kind of stuff just creates it's own theme.
