      It was general - and also introduced new problems, by the looks.

          angband-win-4.1.1-32-g0a88a99

          as soon as i try to look at my starting dagger, i get a crash.
          tried with two different class/race combinations, standart and randart, both crash immediately.
          "i can take this dracolich"

            Inspecting any weapon or digger crashes the game. I don't see anything wrong in the code, except maybe using an uninitialized state in obj_known_digging() when calling calc_bonuses().

              I am wielding a weapon with a weak lightning brand and am wearing a cloak with an acid brand that does more damage than my weapon's lightning brand, yet when I strike The Baphomet Lord with my weapon, the message I get is that I zap him, not dissolve him.... He does not resist acid, so not sure why I wasn't dissolving him?

              I just had the same thing against Castamir the Usurper: zapping him instead of dissolving him. He does not resist acid or lightning. I'm playing the dec 1. Nightly version.

                      All versions of angband look in the same place for my saves and randarts. Nevertheless, I loaded up the newest version of V and loaded my save but I'm still zapping instead of corroding Charcharoth.

                          I just edited artifact.txt to give Dethanc a weak lightning brand and Tuor an acid brand and tried that combo on Farmer Maggot: you "zap". So yes I can confirm this bug.

                          Keeping Tuor with acid brand, I now equip Sting (slay animal + slay evil + slay undead + slay orc) and try the combo vs a squint-eyed rogue: you "smite" (slay evil is triggered). So it seems slay/brand on weapon takes priority over off-weapon slays/brands, even if they are stronger.

                            Thanks PowerWyrm. But I guess it will corrode Sauron since he resists everything else my weapon does? I have a high dice weapon at home waiting for maximum attack with my 'cloak of corrosion'.

                                angband-4.1.0-86-g5766a6b9, the level at which i recall seems to be completely arbitrary. from DL32 back to DL13.

                                yes, i do pay attention to the "set recall" message.
