Oh yeah - just checked in my game. Never goes north, never goes north-east either. I would never have noticed, mind you, as I squelch them on sight.

I am having an issue with my term window shapes and sizes saving with the "save subwindow setup to pref file" option (which I assume is supposd to save your term window setup) in 4.0.1. They save sometimes, but rarely, which is a bit weird.

I don't know if this is a new issue or not, and it isn't game-breaking or anything, but it is a wee bit annoying to have to readjust them every time I open angband.

What sub screens show is lost

I changes term 6 to show the character extra(?) and when I start the next character (reading the save file for the dead character) I have term 6 back to its original default. Annoying not critical.

I've had several instances of Angband crashing to the desktop when performing certain actions.

Once was reading a Scroll of Acquirement. Would crash when read and generating object.

Crashed when trying to recall from town back down.

Crashed when trying to go down stairs from L34 to L35.

In each case, I could reload the save file walk around a bit and then complete the action successfully. It's as if the game didn't like the number of game turns I was on. Although in all cases waiting only one turn would still result in the crash.

So you reload a savefile, and then there's an action that crashes it immediately? If you could post a savefile like that, that would be really helpful.

For the other bugs (so far) in this thread - the subwindow preferences I have a plan to fix, and the Starlight issue is an indicator of a potentially larger problem, which I'm currently trying to make sure gets completely fixed.

So it's real? Phwew. haha I'm glad it's not just me being silly. A suggestion from myself, to yourself: Switch the default locations for monster recall and item list. The item list needs more room vertically, while monster recall works better horizontally; hopefully that makes enough sense. I've been on an Angband binge and have been playing for about 15 hours straight. brain is a bit fuzzy

I'm sorry. I think I caused that bug. I think it's related to my enlarging the home with too much crap in it. I started dumping some stuff and the crashes went away. I'll see it if comes back again if the home gets full again.

Unexplained crash while running. No savefile, as not easily replicable. But, I do have a suspicion. Running into an unknown teleportation trap may be the cause. If I can get it to replicate, I will attach a savefile for you, Nick.

I can't replicate with a teleport trap - it still may be, but keep an eye out for other possibilities too.

I'll explain a bit more about the subwindow setup, because it's a bit confusing.
                      • First, there's the in-game option (=, w) to set up what is in what window. These are filled in by default, and if you change it those changes are saved to a .prf file named after your character. My intention is to change this so that it's saved to a dedicated file called window.prf (or something) in the user directory. This could cause problems if people like to have multiple characters going with different subwindow setups, but I think that's a fairly unlikely situation (and can be got around by copying and renaming of files).
                      • Then there's the geometry of where your subwindows are placed on your screen. In Windows, this is set up by default with 5 subwindows according to your screen size (and currently the item list and monster recall subwindows have the same number of rows ); other platforms default to no subwindows. Your subwindow placement, fonts etc are saved in angband.ini on Windows, in ~/Library/Preferences/org.rephial.angband.plist in OS X, in ~/.angband/Angband/sdlinit.txt for the SDL port, and in ~/.angband/Angband/x11-settings.prf for the x11 port.

                        Targetting:

Old behaviour: I press *, it picks closest monster. I want to target the square, so I press o ("object") before <return>. The next time I use a targettable spell, it automatically uses that square; option "use old target by default" is checked.

New behaviour: If I do the same, it will not target the square; it will target the monster. So either the behaviour has changed, or maybe the hotkey ? How do I target the floor underneath a monster ?

Monsters that fire missiles are firing at the intervening monsters between the archer and the player. I thought this was fixed in the beta, but perhaps only magic casting by monsters was addressed, not physical missiles?

Game slowdown is still an issue in 4.0.1 - I'm on a level with an enormous greater vault ("Target Practice", which admittedly seems to actually be the very biggest) and the game is absolutely crawling during repeat actions, taking literally four or five seconds to heal up 300 HP, visibly moving from one square to the next when running.

Just had a 9-headed hydra breath fire and it damaged a Scythe of Slicing (Holy Avenger) in @'s pack. Is this a bug? I don't recall fire breath ever damaging metal weapons. Sure, it'll burn up a wooden quarterstaff on the ground, but metal? Also, this was in the pack, even if it was wooden, I don't remember fire breath ever causing damage to the weapon in the pack.
