I don't know... should I keep it, or is it too heavy for a mage?

And... *has* it any more hidden powers, actually?
RBase, FA, SI all in a single weapon. The hidden power (random sustain) is just there to trick a n00b into wasting an *ID*.

Of course, mages only find heavy swords... or defender maces of disruption...

It happens sometimes, but if you are reasonably careful, it's less effort lost compared to waiting forever at 1000' for Free Action.
If you have too many problems with this, swap to a race with intrinsic FA (such as a gnome in V). Of course, you will then start dying routinely for an entirely different reason...

The warrior class is definitely more powerful (melee) than the ranger, though the ranger seemed to be better with ranged weapons, despite my warrior having better str/dex. I did miss all the spells though, specifically phase door and find monsters. Oh well, learned a lot that game as well!

Found a slightly enchanted rapier. Higher dam roll and enchantments, same amount of blows. Beats the normal dagger.

Another HE-Warrior of mine met his doom last night. He got to level 17 or so before meeting his demise. I was under the influence, so I do not remember exactly what took him down... but alas he died.

That's amazing. I was able to withstand the force of an ?Summon Monster'ed army (mainly hill orcs... my level: 4), killing all of them. I've been down to ~20% HP BEFORE the battle! I fought using a lousy dagger of normality.

Yes, I will certainly keep that in mind.

Got home last night and died the first time I entered the dungeons. It was horrid. I learned three lessons though:

1.) use scrolls of phase door (teleportation if you have them) over a staff of teleportation, as the staff failed me in my moment of need, which I didn't know was possible.

2.) Warm up before diving to your normal level after returning to the game from the day before, as you will be a little rusty.

3.) Do not play your main char while you are under the influence.

If you do decide you want to look at the monster list, just press the spoilers button at the top of this page to see the monster spoiler at this site. Or you can always go into the lib/edit directory and take a look at monster.txt. (Just be aware that it is bad manners to post on the ladder if you change those .txt files).
