Usually by the time I'm facing Gabriel, I already have Disenchantment Resistance. That wasn't the case this time and since Paladins don't have Glyph of Warding, I had the choice of either letting him hit me in an anti-summoning tunnel or giving him the chance to do what he did 3 times during this battle before I got fed up with it (summon a whole bunch of angels).
BTW, are Paladins one of the harder classes to play?

Intentional annoyance. Be careful of disenchanters.Leave a comment:

I just noticed that my set of Cammithrim is (+4, +4). Looks like it was disenchanted and, of course, there's no way I can re-enchant it since Enchant Weapon doesn't appear to work on gloves.
Oversight or intentional annoyance?Leave a comment:

Thanks, that's what I thought. After I've learned the spells and cast them for the experience gain, I'll sell it.Leave a comment:

The only reason I can think of is if you need to restore stats more often than the rod allows for. But certainly it wouldn't be worth carrying both.Leave a comment:

If I already have a Rod of Restoration, is there any reason that my Paladin would want to keep Purifications and Healing (dungeon spellbook)?
It only has 3 spells I can use: Cure Serious Wounds, Cure Mortal Wounds, and Restoration. Healing from the 4th store spellbook seems to be just as good as Cure Mortal Wounds.Leave a comment:

Two possible bug questions this time.
1. Every once in a while, the "shift" + Move stops working. Easy enough to work around since I can simply save and restart and it works just fine. I'm using a K120 USB keyboard and Windows 7 if this is an actual bug as opposed to my having unknowingly hit something on the keyboard.
2. If we've probed Uniques, why doesn't the monster memory show their base life? For example, I don't know how much starting life Uriel has even though I probed him with my last character.Leave a comment:

Basically, once you learn the artifact's name, if you lose track of it by any method, it's gone.Leave a comment:

Hmm, so does Destruction destroy artifacts, remove artifacts from the level (for a later respawn), or does it leave them there?
I have an Undead Vault on L57 and I'm pretty sure I would have severe problems with my L43 Paladin, so I'm thinking of using Destruction on the room to get access to those 3 Great Hammers (Come on Aule!!).
This is a change from old behavior where you could use destruction to clear GV and then get the remaining artifacts at will.
IIRC earthquake can also remove artifacts, but it requires that the spot where they are is embedded in stone (floor -> stone).Leave a comment:

The RNG finally decided to stop taunting me. What do I mean by "taunting"? Kelek's was generated twice before L50 (on the ground on L45 and in the Black Market) and I'm playing a Paladin.
I had previously found 3 Boots of Speed - +1, +2, and +3. Well, the RNG finally produced some Boots of Elvenkind with +9 Speed and +4 Stealth. And it was in the Armory and not the Black Market so it was much less expensive.Leave a comment:

The only difference between Enchant and *Enchant* scrolls is that the latter tries to enchant both to-hit and to-dam 1d3 times each. The spell version gives 0-4 + (clvl / 20) attempts to each, so up to 6 attempts to enchant both to-hit and to-dam with one casting. The prayer gives a straight 1d5 attempts on both; dunno why they're so trivially different.Leave a comment:

I'm assuming those are the numbers for a regular Enchant scroll and not an *Enchant* scroll?
Because the odds for the Enchant Weapon spell seemed to be much better than that.
Thanks for the confirmation on the stack size; I enchanted two separate stacks of 20 bolts to (+15, +15). Based on prior experience, stacks of 20 felt like a transition point for success/failure on enchanting but I wasn't sure of it.Leave a comment:
