I have the same F10 issue as Timo.

Playing some 3.4, and I kept dieing - then had an almost-death where a level-drainer reduced my lvl 16 or so character to lvl 1 and thus 14 max hitpoints. At which point I recalled that all my other deaths were caused by attacks from level draining monsters as well, so I am wondering if there has been any change to that mechanic.
It would explain, the notoriously fast drainers double moving me, to reduce my level to 1 (or very low) on the first attack and thus leaving me in such a weak state that their (not particulary strong) next attack kills me.

The exact version I play is actually v3.4-dev-667-gbbf3621 which I found by googling 3.4 and rephial - I cant seem to figure out how to navigate rephial, there is the "releases" tab which only has older versions and the "development" tab with many links to github but no 3.4.

I have not noticed this at all. It sounds like a bug. A level drainer should not be putting you at level 1 in one hit. I check EXP_10, EXP_20, and EXP_40 drainers and I could not reproduce this. Are you sure you didn't get paralyzed also. A ghost can paralyze you.

Here is where you can download the nightlies.

Escapes are there to clear messages. I actually did have them after the actual casting as well, but removed them for debugging reasons. It seems to be issue with F10 key and keymap, not the keymap itself. It does that no matter what I put as a keymap there. For some reason it activates the window after doing the whatever keymap is set to do so I still cast the spell, I just need to get back to game by mouse click.

What's wrong with you and XP? It works just fine for me, so why change?

But you can't use keymaps at a -more- prompt, so the [Escape]s before the command are totally superfluous. (And I didn't mean to imply that this was the problem, it's just something I thought was worth mentioning.)
takkaria whispers something about options. -more-

Just a general grudge against M$ for a ton of reasons...I doubt you'll be interested in the full list

We probably use a computer to do different things (although playing angband is obviously one we have in common), but this is perfectly fine.
In my experience, *nix just suits better my needs.

I respect your choice. Of course everyone is totally free to use whatever s/he likes best, so if xp works well for you, there are no good reasons you ought to change it for.

In 3.4 you should be able to clear more prompt in keymaps by putting the keymap in parentheses.

So escapes in general are useless? How do I then clear messages after casting the spell? Do I have to make a kaymap that switches "automaticly clear messages" on when casting and then turn that back on?

I suppose keymaps still don't do everything macros did.

That's definite improvement. I have to test that right now....works like charm, thanks.

I also got drained from L17 to 1 once. Never knew what hit me. Teleport & recalled. Dlvl was 20ish.
In the latest game i met an invisible Adunaphel with no see invis very OOD and with only phase door as escape had no chance to survive. Was lvl 20 half troll fighter so I had enough hp to survive the first draining attack and quaff true sight. Thus I could id the attacker. There was a vault. Dlvl about 23.
