Yes, I have noticed that I have next to no money when playing O, which is already a nasty variant for that, I may have to play something with stone to mud.Comment

More money for your playstyle? I don't understand what you dislike about it. I know few people who would not opt for purely extra money.Comment

I too like the choice of whether to sell my artifact for that one Black Market item, but I also am one of the OCD optimizers so I enjoy no selling as well, since that makes marginal items usable.
What about a middle ground, where only artifacts can be sold, but fetch a good price? You would retain the benefit of not loading up on "vendor trash" every dive, but would still be able to sell some items for that special BM offering?Comment

Few people wouldn't opt for 1000hp starting either, or having a random artifact at the beginning of the game.
As I noted, I don't see the point. I do not recall using the word dislike, hence, "I do not hate it."Comment

I would be fine with a hypothetical sell_artifacts option, or perhaps even just no_sell_equipment - the main issue with a sell game is feeling compelled to pick up worthless equipment for its sell price alone. Other items that are valuable, like some wands, also have potential utility if they're just sitting in your inventory.I too like the choice of whether to sell my artifact for that one Black Market item, but I also am one of the OCD optimizers so I enjoy no selling as well, since that makes marginal items usable.

Good call on the poll, Max. With over 20% either not liking it after trying it, or not intending to try it, it looks like it's staying optional for a while."Been away so long I hardly knew the place, gee it's good to be back home" - The BeatlesComment

I tried playing with no_selling. I actually used Wands of Magic Missile and other things that usually got sold immediately (it helped take down a few early uniques :3). I'm strongly in favor.
Also, kill two monstrous überbirds with one stone and make Charisma actually useful by making it massively decrease the cost of items in no_selling mode (like, 1/3 off at 16 charisma). That way, finding Charisma potions would be pretty nice.If you can convincingly pretend you're crazy, you probably are.Comment

I just tried it for the first time and realized how much of my starting gear I take for granted. I was playing a mage and I remembered to buy the 1st spellbook. I also remembered to buy a weapon. However, I almost forgot to buy a torches and I did forget to buy both food and WOR, so it was a very short trip before I died while hungry and trying to get to the upstairs. I'm about to try it again, hopefully a little better prepared.Comment
