edit ty fizzix, yes ive looked at the source, i dont know anything about open source distribution or watever, and even if i did, i dont have any ideas for a varient... or to help actually maybe helping could be good, but i will not help make a game worse, im sorry,~

one day u will maybe see something from me here, but it probably will not be varient of angband, and if it is, it will be based on my stair campaign and everybody hating it, and timo will be morgoth

Oh Friday, how I should really be doing more work and less forum posting. For some reason, I found this hilarious. What other monsters would people on this forum be? That could be a fun variant... one would only hope not to end up as Lagduf...

I see a problem with this variant idea: how do you decide who gets to be the Lurker?

(If I had my pick of which monster would represent me in-game...hm, Illusionist or Pseudo-Dragon, I think. If we have to stick to uniques, then Sangahyando or Waldern, I think.)

Yes there is. You need to go to "user CP", there under "Settings and options" is "edit ignore list".

I couldn't help remembering that I wrote a quick joke-monster description of Nick a few years back before he started showing up in FA's ghosty-ghost pantheon of evilness...

N (Black and White, alternating)
16000 h.p. 82 a.c.
You see Nick, the Maintainer of FAangband. He laughs at your race class combo and reaches for his duct tape. His keyboard crackles with ancient magic, having sacrificed the right shift and number lock keys for increased power. He can hit to duct tape shut your favorite glitches, touch to remove any chance of finding confusion or blindness resist, hurl wilderness code for 26d8 damage, can imprison you within rock and can summon 4d10 complainers to whinge you to death. He resists lightning, fire, complaining, whining and Bandobras. He may drop 12 exploding trapped chests filled with spellbooks you can't use. You feel an intense desire to avoid this monster...

I actually have thought of releasing an April Fool's version where forum regulars and devs become uniques...

The only problem is that I'd need to code it so that the monsters would try to kill each other

@d_m: I have, on the other hand, thought of making a New Year's Eve version of Angband.DISCLAIMER: If you do not understand, it is probably because you haven't been to the Czech republic. It would be mostly edit file work, because monsters would suddenly be: Singing happy drunk, Drunk Farmer Maggot(Drops the only weapon item in the game, the broken beer bottle), Singing violent drunk, Angry violent drunk, Arguing happy drunk and so on. Objects would be: Staff of firework(Starlight), wand of rocket(fire bolt) and similar items.
