Request: give Death Mold deadly color scheme.

It happened again: I'm playing a warrior, open a door and see a gray 'm' and think great, let me clear the mold. {insert Kung Fu sounds from mold} Death Mold releases spores/ Your Large Leather Shield of Celegorm is disenchanted / Your set of Leather Gloves 'Cambeleg' is disenchanted (Lost some melee plusses !!!!)

I gather that the purpose of Death Molds is in keeping with the tradition of Evil RNG-ness. The: I told you so, you should have been on your toes, should have used the 'l' key... tradition.

Still, It would be nice if Death 'm' were given a purple flag (as in disenchanter bats) or alternating color scheme to give fair warning. Anything that can trash your hard earned gear like that should be distinct.
He once had an awkward moment with a Morgoth, just to see what it felt like. Should he ever be cut, rubies would spill from his veins.

It is distinct -- it's the only dark grey mold. *shrug*

      I'm with the OP - let's give it ATTR_FLICKER.

EDIT: Right, I've done that in staging - it should be in nightlies soon if d_m updates master tonight. Obviously you will need the "flickering monsters" option on to get the benefit of this.

To hijack the thread, if you want the display to reflect the monster's attack type, let me ask

Please, please, please can we make blue worm masses a white w since they have a cold attack? I'm sure there are other examples in this vein, but that's the first that comes to mind.

Well that would need to be done hand-in-hand with getting rid of colour names and nicking the better alternatives from variants like DaJ ...

A name is just a name. My name is Grove, but I do not look like a stand of trees. Perhaps the worms are truly white, but were discovered by Mr. Azure Sapphire Teal, who named them as his family named everything.

A color on the screen depicting an attack type, now that is important.

Now you've convinced me we need to preserve the color to continue honoring Mr. Teal's fantastic crypto-zoological find!

How about just changing that attack to electrify? Solves that problem. Then we need to change green to poison and white to cold. OTOH green seem to be acidic in several other places too (Gelatinous cubes, green jellies and oozes at least), maybe white could stay poisonous.

What about colors that mean multiple things? Like red meaning fire and -STR, yellow meaning sound and -DEX, etc. Are there enough colors in the palette to give each separate effect a color or does there have to be this kind of overlap?

Red should be changed to pink where it drains strength, IMO. Pink frogs, pink nagas, etc.
