extreme stair scumming

Pits and vaults are the icing, not the cake. They're interesting occasional challenges, but you can definitely have too much of them, especially since they tend to be susceptible to / require degenerate tactics (e.g. for pits, kiting off single enemies and dealing with them one at a time).

I bake way too much (work), so any time I have to eat I like to have the good stuff (icing). I can leave the filler uneaten ...

I reckon exploring 1-2 rooms or having 1-2 fights (plus rests) would be about right. My fixed delay of 2000 turns (200 moves at normal speed) could maybe be reduced a bit but seems to be in the right ball park.

Yeah except that it breaks down badly in the end with +30 speeds and over, and plentiful detection etc, so that the feeling will come after the fact ... 200 player turns?

I don't think stoners could get very far in Angband.. the first disenchanter mold they come across would leave them transfixed for hours.

One gallon = approx 19 cups of coffee...I think I have done that once or twice. Also apparently Finnish coffee is a bit more caffeinated than regular US coffee, because one of the visiting professors denied offer to drink cup of coffee with us saying that Finnish coffee makes him jump to the walls (include a very lively performance of what he mean).

It doesn't affect me much (except that I seem to be able to solve regular difficult sudoku in about half time with couple of cups of coffee before than without).

Drugs come in wide variety. Some cause excessive "mellow", some make people do things rapidly and without caring about consequences, some make them hallucinate wildly etc.

Some are harmless, some are harmful and almost all if not all are addictive. That "harmless" cup of coffee included. Alcohol can be counted as drug, and a very harmful one: it does all of the above. Safe only in very small quantities. Luckily for addiction it is not the fastest drug in the world, otherwise half of the globe would be addicted by now.
