Is there some bug related to Amulets of Inertia. I am currently playing 3.1.2v2 on windows and the first amulet of inertia I identified was -3 speed. Now any amulet of inertia I see is -3, and I don't even need to ID it.
Amulet of Inertia?

The -3 to speed is hardcoded in object.txt, the value is never randomized.PWMAngband variant maintainer - check https://github.com/draconisPW/PWMAngband (or http://www.mangband.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=9) to learn more about this new variant! -
I'd like to see it changed to a 1d4 value. Inertia was the first FA item I found in my most recent character. I carried it around for a while thinking I might want it (I was at dlevel 30+ before I finally found a FA ring). The speed penalty was just too harsh though. If it were -1 I probably would've worn it.Comment

Yeah, -4 is a big hit from base speed, and at higher levels when you have +speed items, you'll probably have a better amulet too.Comment

I'd happily start the game with an amulet of inertia in my pack, and in return I would happily give up using any amulets of slow digestion, resist acid, resist elec, adornment, teleportation and searching ever in the game for compensation.Comment

Agreed. The only time I ever wear any of those is to use the neck as an extra inventory slot on my way to town, and I never wear the teleportation ones.My first winner: http://angband.oook.cz/ladder-show.php?id=10138Comment

I've used amulets of resist acid/electricity sometimes to patch holes in my resistances that couldn't be covered any other way with my available gear. Heck, my current character was running around at 1800' with a "rElec, no rAcid, and only temporary rFire/rCold...
Teleportation and Searching never get used, though.Comment

In most recent vanilla paralyzation is not cumulative, IE. once paralyzed you have a chance to recover every once a while. With high enough HP, AC and Saving throw I think you could survive even surrounded by pack of ghouls.
I need to investigate how well this change actually works. Was planning to, but forgot.
In deeper than 2000' even one turn of paralyzation can be deadly, so FA would be necessity eventually (or perfect saving throw), but at that deep FA is commonplace. If you haven't seen any Westernesse or RoFA or something else with FA by then then you are very much screwed anyway. I don't think there is any use for Inertia amulet as it is now. It needs to have something more to compensate that amount of speed loss. Something like +50 AC, resist fear and maybe very long recharge haste activation.
Obviously just removing it would make all other items a tiny bit more common.Comment
