OK I might start a new game, but i have a question, what is playing with randarts like? Is it easier or harder? Also, I think I want to play a different race/class combo, which one should I try?
I need some advice.

I haven't played much with randarts, but my understanding is that they're a bit of a crapshoot. The standard set has several common artifacts that are used to provide important resistances or abilities (e.g. Thranduil for telepathy, Cammithrim for combat bonuses / free action, Thorin for immunity to acid and +4 CON, etc.), which of course aren't guaranteed with randarts. However, randarts have the potential for giving you game-breakingly powerful artifacts, like a pair of boots with +2 shooting speed. If you're lucky enough to get one of those, then the game becomes much easier.Comment

The randarts are generated item-per-standard-item in a way that boosts the variance of the power. Since you only use a few items amongst the many you collect, that really boosts the power of the best kit. Some items are so powerful it feels like cheating to me to use them. The one drawback is that too many of them aggravate.
My wife likes to play "collect as many randarts as you can", continuing after killing M. In her current game, she found The One Ring, which is not randomized, and it is home collecting dust because it can't compete in her randart kit. That's happened in other games as well.
P.S. You might try the half-troll rogue I recced in another recent thread.Comment

Ok, I guess ill try a half troll rogue, sounds interesting. Also is a win with randarts less prestigious than a plain no options changed win?Comment

All wins are impressive accomplishments. Eddie here is just so good at the game that he creates challenges for himself to keep things interesting. Mere mortals will be plenty "interested" enough (in the Chinese sense) without trying to make things artificially harder.Comment
