Sorry to ask a stupid question, but does Windows support SDL natively, or do you have to install something extra? If it has native support (in XP / Vista / 7), then I vote for removing the Windows port.

You just ship the game with the relevant DLLs and it works, more-or-less.

Hmmm. IMO that's almost as much hassle as maintaining the Windows port - someone, somewhere will complain that the shipped DLLs break something. Remember all the hassle with VB runtime DLLs back in Win98?

Man these Windows font problems are just killing us. Ugh!
Simple solution is to change the default font to a size where windows doesn't try to use one of its own - I use 8x12 for FA. IIRC this works (although starting up new V in Win7 for me it works anyway, so make of that what you will).

This. Works perfect on two Win7 machines that I've tested it on once I switch the font size
