    3.1.1 mis-features

Here are a couple of problems I encountered with 3.1.1. These don't quite rise to the level of "bug":

    (1) The description for a Basilisk says: "An evil reptile ..." but the monster does not have the EVIL flag. Since "evil" means something in the game (e.g. Slay Evil), the description should be changed to use a different word. The same problem exists for the Crebain, although there I think the right fix is to leave the description the same and add in the EVIL flag.

    (2) The screen that shows resists has "?" for all possibilities in a slot where you are not wielding anything. Now, I can understand that if you are wielding say, a cloak that you don't know anything about, you'd have "?" all over, but I'd think that the character should be able to figure out that if they are *not* wielding a cloak, then they aren't getting any resists from the cloak that they aren't wielding.

    (3) I have "easy_open" set in the Interface Options. Mistaken attempts to "o"pen a door in a place where there is no door results in 99 failures to open the non-existent door. This is only a minor annoyance since the failures take zero time.

    (4) The description you get for "Mormegil" says *both*
    . Stops experience drain
    *and*
    . Drains experience
I understand why it says both, but it certainly looks wrong.

    (1) Vile, perhaps? That's certainly how I feel about them.
    (2) This annoys me too.
    (3) Also happens for close, but I have to pick a direction before I get the 99 messages (playing 3.1.2).
    (4) "Sustains your life force" maybe?

      (2) is even worse. You can learn that an empty slot grants a resistance! Fixed in 3.1.2.

      (3) Just use easy_alter as well, and don't bother with the open command.

1 and 4 now fixed in trunk (r1682). Thanks for spotting them.

How about greater basilisks? IIRC they are flagged as EVIL.

True. Since Greater basilisks are EVIL one could argue that the correct fix would be to add the EVIL flag to the Basilisk and leave the description unchanged. That would be fine with me too; I am only really concerned about the inconsistency, and not so much about which way to resolve it.

Those younger basilisks are just misunderstood... products of their evil environment!

Ahh the innocence of youth. When they stare at you its not that they really want to turn you to stone, they're just looking for attention and/or a play-buddy!

Hmm...sorry if this has been noted before, but there's something wrong with the character screen of my Warrior...

If ONLY I knew some spells, I'd put those 2 SP to good use!

Everyone starts at 2 SP, and it shows on dungeon screen when you can learn your first spell (which for a warrior is never)
