    Bugged walls

I vastly prefer playing with the ASCII characters, but on my new computer the walls don't show up at all in ASCII. I tried downloading and installing the newest version of the game, but it's still a problem. I could try playing the game in graphics mode, but it's just not as much fun there. Can anyone help me figure out what's wrong?

The only thing I can come up with is that I'm now using a Vista machine instead of an XP one, but compatibility didn't fix the problem.

    Thanks in advance.

Can you take a printscreen screen shot? That's a pretty strange problem.

There have been issues with the block tile ( █ ) on Vista, which is why the default was changed to the pound (#). Supposedly some people have fixed it, but it seems like the problem remains elusive, maybe the fixes just haven't made it into the public versions of the game. I've gotten so used to the pound now, the original block looks strange to me when I load up an old version of Angband.

I don't really know anything about it, but it seems like these threads have worked for some people:

In FAangband 1.0.2, the block tiles work just fine on Vista... not sure what Nick did to fix 'em, might wanna ask him!

First thing to try is just removing (or renaming) lib\pref\font-win.prf.

This is the thread that solved it for me. I don't remember the specifics. Good luck.

              Thanks!

Removing that one file fixed it. I just noticed that apparently I *don't* have the newest version like I thought. I'll update (again) soon.

              Thanks!

I am *still* (after months and months) having the issue where the walls show up as # instead of the solid block in V. Does anybody know how to get them to be the solid walls again?

I've always preffered the #s, the blocks just look bizzare to me ._.
