    advice for endgame equip

    After rolling countless dwarf/dunadan paladins and having most of them die before the 3500' mark, i decided to play a bit again with rogues - and guess what, just a couple of @'s later i'm back to the deeper dlvl's ...

    Anyway, i have most resistances covered;

    the problem is that with the current equip, speed is really subpar. In order to improve that though i have to sacrifice either rNether (boots) or fire immunity + improved stats/damage (ring); also my only two sources of rPoison really are not deeper dlvl material...

    suggestions?

    ps - i just found out looking at my char history that i found the mithril plate of celeborn and left it on the dungeon like an idiot; i don't even know how i missed it after id'ing it ....

    Sorry about the offtopic but I have to ask, how do you get so far so fast? Most of my guys are in the mid to high 20's at that turncount and around DLvl 40-45. My biggest concern is getting levels before monsters become too hard for me to kill, how do you deal with that?

    My only advice in my limited knowledge of the deeper DLvls is to just keep doing what you've been doing, try to find something with some more speed then clean up uniques and go to town. Best of luck to you!

      You might want to consider a branding ring instead of Narya. 2 * 9d6 bonus elemental damage per hit is a pretty big deal.

        On the subject of rNether, are there any instadeath nether breathers? I presume that there are, but I've never fallen victim to one, despite traipsing around down deep w/o the resist.

        My gut instinct would be to advising losing the boots too, but I'm sort of ignorant of exactly what protection they offer.

          Max nether breath is 550 damage, so you have to be a little low in HP to be instakilled by nether. That said, Azriel and Huan both breath nether for max damage, and they both are scary as hell.

            The Dracolich can breath nether also and there are same nasty undead monsters und uniques with the ability to cast nether bolts and nether balls. (And some of them can summon other monsters with same abilities ...)

                    First off, I'm still playing 3.0.x, so bear that in mind. I really don't know 3.1.1, so you might want to take my advice with a smidgin of salt.

                    I would definitely be wearing those sandals- +11 is fast enough for most situations, if you can Haste (though +12 is significantly better), but +21, or +22 if you can shed a bit of weight, is a lot better. The thing about rNether is that it in the worst case it barely cuts the damage anyway, so you can't actually rely on it. What it's mainly good for is reducing the average damage you take in a long fight so that you use less resources healing. You could swap boots if you decided to fight one of the big Nether breathers.

                    You can do without perm rPoison for the moment. You've got enough mana to keep the spell up all the time, though even that is not strictly necessary if you're really careful. Just don't get sloppy about it. The character I'm playing right now didn't get perm rPoison until he found Vilya. I did carry around some rings of rPoison as a swap, but I think I only used them a couple of times, and I could have done without them. Anyway, you could use some better neckgear and there's a piece of Jewelry that might show up pretty soon with rPoison. You could also definitely use some Con...

                        You need to clean up your house. No reason to keep Thengel when you have Holhenneth, etc. (And no reason to keep Thranduil when you have Narya and a Cloak of ESP).

                              ...and again the culprit is charcaroth, although it was entirely my fault: he breathed nether three times in a row, and i dumbly opted to heal all three time using !CCW instead of -Healing or vilya or soulkeeper ... the rest is history - and i was so close to winning with him

                              EDIT: also, turn count was pretty low, i might have kept it under 600k - damn
