1st 4 weeks had sum fun exploring this great game and taking my time clearing each dungeon lvl b4 moving on. average @ lvl b4 death in this time was lvl 10 and my top @ was lvl 32 when he died 1800 feet down after 1.5 mill turns

then my luck changed and i found this site
after much reading of old forums i went back 2 the dungeons with a new style of play.... Run away and dive, dive, dive

So the past 2 weeks have seen a big change in my @s life span.
now i can say with a big smile that my average @s lvl is about 20
and my best @ so far died at lvl 41 3750 feet down afte 500k turns

To go from 1.5M turns at dl36 to 500k turns @dl75 is a fantastic progression - in two weeks you've increased your diving speed sixfold. Nicely done.

Beware diving too fast though. Last night I lost a character at dl57 or so because I was just too deep to kill anything. I still don't know how to tell whether I'm diving too fast, and how to slow it down, but I know that it's unhealthy.

been playing Angband now for 6 weeks after been told about it by a ex player when i expressed my hunger for good rpg type games and the lack of depth in any of the maintream rpgs out there.

And yes im hooked already!
