    Aggravates

How bad is it, anyway? I just found the Shield of the Haradrim, and it does extremely nice things for my kit and I need to know if I'm screwing myself over by wearing it around.

How does Aggravates function? How bad is it? What can I do to mitigate its effects?

I think we need to see your character sheet at this point.

It wakes everything up when you come near it, and there's nothing you can do about that. Playing with aggravation is different, but not necessarily bad - you could give it a try, but be well prepared to bail out.

BTW - what is the radius of aggravation? Is it the same as detection radius or smaller?

I think it is 15 or so, certainly smaller than the detection area. Also, you are comparing a circle to a rectangle.

Aggravation radius is the same as ESP radius: 20.

As to when you can aggravate:
            0. You are endgame strong
            1. You have RPois (or you are very careful about detecting Drolems)
2a. You have a really durable character (such as a Paladin or Priest with reliable Heal spell and a decent weapon.)
2b. You have a reliable get-rid-of-annoyance spell. (Banishment, Destruction)

Otherwise, use it as a swap against tough monsters, such as Sauron or Morgoth.

My feeling is that if you can survive while aggravating at D-Level X, then if you get rid of the aggravation you can survive at D-Level X+10 and get better loot. My guess is that if you can survive at D-Level 90 while aggravating, you are ready to punt Morgoth.

One of my winners was wearing a weapon of fury - no problem for a paladin.

Currently I am playing a rogue who has just killed Sauron. But I am still hesitating to go for Morgoth because I am missing enough healing capacity and have no rNether item (only Oloroin).

Thanks for the clarification of the aggravation radius.

                  Alas

Alas, Rafe the Warrior met his end. I found a big ass vault and probably should have run, but didn't. By then, I was wearing some other, cooler gear. Here's the final character sheet (advice is welcome - I'd like to grow from the experience)
