    r1392:

Sold an unIDed sling (-2,-1) {magical} for 4 gold.

    Shopkeeper: I think I'll retire!

Now it's for sale at 118 gold.

Shouldn't it have sold for {average} price, if unidentified? Seems to have reverted to preadjusted rates.

I one plays a full game with randarts, would one find items with the uber traits of some of the favorite standarts? Like the Rings of Power, Cubragol, etc.? Or do they not generate to that level of awesomeness.

This is a bug in the current ID-by-use development - unID'd items currently sell for their real values. It'll get fixed before 3.1.1

They most certainly do. I just died and had a look at what I could have won (the artifact spoiler) - here's Bladeturner made into an uber-weapon:

          The Great Axe 'Vargor' (9d4) (+30,+26) [+7]
          -------------------------------------------
+3 strength, intelligence, wisdom, dexterity, constitution, charisma,
          tunneling, speed.
          +15% to searching.
Slays animals, evil creatures, orcs, trolls, giants.
          *Slays* dragons, demons, undead.
          Branded with flames.
Provides resistance to acid, lightning, fire, cold, dark, shards,
          disenchantment.
Cannot be harmed by acid, electricity, fire, cold.
          Sustains strength.
          Blessed by the gods.
          Speeds regeneration.
Grants the ability to see invisible things.
          Radius 1 light.

When activated, it bestows upon you berserk rage, bless, and resistance.
          Takes 400 turns to recharge.

I played with randarts a long time ago, I think it was 3.06.
Nearly every second artifact had aggravation on it or it was ridiculously weak. Is the code any better with the new versions?

I was going through some old stuff (3.0.6 or so) and I found this. I wonder how the new pricing method would handle this???

                  "this" ?

... is something I am apparently not allowed to post unless I put in some meaningless waffle as well.

Sorry Had a power failure just as I was about to attach a picture. Am at work right now so I will add the picture later today. Sorry all about that.

The gist is that I sold a ring of speed +10 for about 30,000 and the store valued it at about 430,000

You would have sold it for exactly 30k, which is the upper limit of store budgets. Under the old system it was worth much more, which is why the price to buy it back was so much higher.

Be warned - the new pricing system dramatically reduces the price of speed items - much more so than any other items. In my view this is how it should be, because speed items were terribly and pointlessly overpriced in the old system - but YMMV. IMO speed items are now competitively priced with other items of similar value (e.g. boots of speed (+1) are now really quite cheap). Let me know what you think when you've played a few games with the new system.

This is interesting really because it was sold for 28,200 and priced for 424,000

Odd. I can't explain that. Which version was it?

There was strange behavior for a while where the maximum shopkeepers would pay was reduced by the charisma penalty.
