They are what Men of Erech are based on in Un.

Also, that is one of the larger, um, departures of the movies from the book. Not that I'm anti the movies - parts of them were excellent.

        Please no new races

I've been playing Angband off and on for about 15 years now (more off than on), and I just have one request: Please, don't increase the number of races. Take some out or swap some, change them, but the reason I keep coming back to V. after trying the variants is because I find the number of races and classes in V. to be just right to allow for some choice in how I want to play, but not enough to make it difficult to decide.

Angband should have difficult decisions in gameplay (what to keep, what to equip..etc), but not character creation. It's the first thing a new user will see when they start out.

Past a certain point, providing more options when making a choice does _NOT_ lead to more happiness or satisfaction, but decreases it.

(the corolarry to this is 'don't increase the number of classes either')

One possibility to tweak race, is to improve the value of infravision by allowing races with infravision to see dungeon features (but not read and take other actions requiring light).
