    bug affecting the stupid

I encountered a bug that confused me for a while. I had SP 11/11 but when I tried to cast detect monsters, I got the message about not enough mana to cast the spell.

Here's your clue. I was down at 2000' looting a vault.

    S

    P

    A

    C

    E

It turns out, if you wield armor that is sufficiently heavy to encumber you enough to drop to 0 maximum mana, the display does not refresh the SP line.

When I saved and reloaded, the SP line was missing entirely, which I guess is appropriate for casters without mana. I unwielded rested a bit and rewielded, and saved a char dump to upload, but the dump has SP 0/0 instead of either an incorrect or missing SP line.

Thank you for that report. Currently, the proposed fix is to have the spell points line displayed if the character could have spell points, disregarding whatever armor the character is wearing.

On a related note, would you or anyone else like more feedback from the game about armor reducing the maximum amount of spell points? Or is the current approach, a message when the character is below the limit but equipping a piece of armor puts the character over the limit, okay? The possible additional feedback would be some combination of more messages (possibly a message if the character is over the limit and equipping an item adds enough weight to further reduce the maximum spell points), changing the color of the maximum spell points displayed in the sidebar (or possibly the first page of the character sheet) if its reduced by the armor worn, or adding some more verbose indicator for the armor impacting maximum spell points on the spell points line of the first page of the character sheet.

I actually saw the message about encumbrance and ignored it. I was swapping armor, thought maybe it was same weight as before, but in "pillage vault" mode so didn't really care, and promptly forgot about it.

I think displaying SP: 0/0 is fine, and wouldn't even mind it playing a warrior. It's not as if the line would be used for something else.

That looks like a good idea. I like the option of changing the color displayed for maximum SP the most, but even the other options look fine.
