Any thoughts on making Angband metric? At the moment we're dealing in feet and pounds and that surely confuses a lot of players (like me). Could it not be a birth option to play with metres and kilograms?

Several monster descriptions use measurements in feet as well. Incidentally, Japanese versions (or, at very least, Hengband) are using metric system. -
On the other hand, flipping between the displayed unit name wouldn’t be that hard. (The metric weights wouldn’t make sense, but that’s ok; the imperial ones don’t, either.)
Changing monster descriptions based on the option, on the other hand, would be a lot of work for very little gain, and is unlikely to happen.Comment

I just consider it Tolkien flavor and am happy with that.“We're more of the love, blood, and rhetoric school. Well, we can do you blood and love without the rhetoric, and we can do you blood and rhetoric without the love, and we can do you all three concurrent or consecutive. But we can't give you love and rhetoric without the blood. Blood is compulsory. They're all blood, you see.”

There used to be an option for displaying in metric, but it was removed in takkaria's option blitz because (a) it wasn't thematic and (b) it was barely used. One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne

Nothing confusing about it. A foot is one three-hundredth of a football field, while a pound is one three-hundredth of a football player. I'm referring, of course, to American football and not metric football.Last edited by Djabanete; May 12, 2022, 03:54.Comment
