    Bug? Detect Doors

    Hi there!
    I took a long break from Angband - this is the first 4.-version I am playing.
    Looking forward to the new classes and playing with the changes in the old ones.
    So far the only possible bug I have noticed is that the mage-spell #c in the first spellbook does not find doors. Doors would be a great help in getting an idea how the dungeon is mapped and if spells at detected enemies are blocked.

    That first detect spell only detects in a fixed rectangle about the player (11 grids above and below, 20 sideways) - is it possible there were just no doors there? Detect doors is working for me.

      I checked your idea and took the time to experiment some more: the spell only detects closed doors.
      If there are only bashed down or open ones in the vicinity the message is: "You sense no doors" - screenshot attached. Perhaps that one is as old as the game - as I wrote, I had a long break.
      Well, it seams reasonable for long-range attacking but is not exactly what stands in the spell description.

        No, in old days, the spell only detected secret doors. It was changed in 2.8.1 to detect all kínds of doors.

          Hmmm, the current version detects secret doors and forgets previously seen doors that are no longer there. Perhaps the description should be changes (say that it only detects secret doors; likely also change the effect handler name to make that clear) or expand what it does to detect all doors.
