24 hour Angband 4.2.3 competition on 19 February

Same rules, so playing vanilla, any class race, randart stats permitted, no selling, no flavours/rune ID

I imagine it might be tricky to have two official competitions going at once on the website.

Personally, I'm not sure I'm up for another 24 hour challenge quite yet, but I would consider it.

Also, why no selling? I've been playing with selling turned on lately and kind of like it.

I think two competitions at a time is likely possible. On the other hand, I'm planning to have 4.2.4 out soonish, so waiting for that might be a good idea.

I think a swansong to 4.2.3 would be nice.

We can do a more in-depth competition for the latest release when it lands. This is just something to brighten up a dark February.

Also, re: no selling, let's make it optional. It doesn't really make a difference either way. I don't see the advantage in either system. By level 40 I've always got all the gold in the world and nothing to spend it on

I calculate the starting time to be 4:00 AM US West Coast (We are UTC -8)

If these competitions get popular, perhaps you could put a creation time stamp on the save file. OS time stamp should do for the end. I guess that would mean that players have to build their own rather than downloading one.

My HE mage found a sling of power and shots of poison and a potion of experience all below level 20.

Now I'm certain to die to kavlax. I can't be this lucky for long

Edit: apparently I can be this lucky. Just found another potion of experience in dlvl21. I'm now up to clvl32 without having had to cast an offensive spell yet
