    Missile damage calculation in 4.2.3?

What's the missile damage calculation in 4.2.3? In particular, it seems that the effects of brands have been reduced from earlier versions or are figured in earlier than before?

A (x4) launcher with branded ammo is definitely not doing (x12) damage to vulnerable monsters, seems more like (x7).

E.g., A Light Crossbow of Extra might (x4) (+17,+24) using ammo a bolt of flame (1d6) (+10,+9) reports average damage of 265 at shooting speed 1.0

Interesting that an artifact bow with "weak fire" brand seems to do about the same damage -- is a "weak fire" launcher the same as a non-branded launcher using missile of flame? Meaning "of flame" means something like a 1.5 multiplier?

That's right - the multipliers are added, so its x7.

Weak fire has a +2 multiplier. The missile code picks the better multiplier, so if you had a x4 launched with weak fire brand, you'll get x6 against fire-resistant monsters with regular arrows, and x7 with arrows of flame.

      Got it, thanks.

      You mean non-fire-resistant?
