    Back in the dungeon (YACD warning)

    So, it's been raining for a couple of days on my holiday, so I re-watched extended versions of LOTR and The Hobbit and all those nice helms, rings and swords lured me back to the game.


    I've been following a old guide to max stats before '2000, but after level-scumming couple of days at '1900 I have not managed to found intelligence potions.. I'm quite sure, I'm ready to go deeper in the dungeon even with not maxxed int and dex, but decided to make sure. Your thoughts? Also, I could use some advice, what to store at home. It's full and I'm struggling to weight what to keep for later use. Probably throw away rings and bolts atleast?

    You don't need to keep stat potions with the stat maximized, priests have spell to recover drained stats. I would not keep equipment that is not artifact. Your @ is in good shape to dive a lot of levels, after level 50 most of good artifacts begin to appear

        I keep stat potions in case I find a potion of intellect. Thanks for the confirmation, I'll start diving. Anything special I need to worry about before '2500?

          e: btw, just saw a first game crash ever on angband. Got an error about pile integer. Too bad I didn't look closer. Win10 Pro 2004. Does the game store crash dump or something similar I should send? Nothing serious, just reloaded the latest savegame.

            You're a priest. Your intelligence isn't particularly important. (I would never drink a potion of intellect as a priest as it will affect a stat you care about negatively)

            You'll definitely pick up some dex on the way down to max out before the bottom.

            Those are some great rings. Strength +6 by itself is a ring I wear for a long time. One of the keys to maxing those stats is maxing your weapon blows which you've done. It's not a particularly great weapon - but the RConfusion is nice.

            you can definitely dive away.

              The only thing you need in the next 15 levels is telepathy, it will appear soon, eventually you will want rnether and base speed of 25 or higher

                Dived down to '2400 and confronted 3 seriously ood uniques and beat them with little effort. I'm now confident to go deeper.

                        I'm not surprised summoners are a problem. You have no good way of doing damage. Holy Orb tops out at 83/167 damage, IIRC, and you are carrying a lot of mediocre rods*. Meanwhile you have lousy archery and melee weapons for actually killing anything. What you need is a MoD (HA) or some randart that does real damage with 4 blows.
                        Just duke it out, healing regularly.

                        * at depth, you need to be doing 200+ damage with your devices to be worthwhile. That means acid/fire ball, and especially drain life and annihilation. Often wands are better than rods.

                            Imm Cold found, so I got all basic four immunities, which helps a bit. Also dumped least powerful rods.

                            Question about fifth priest book, Light of Manwe. Does it damage creatures twice, first 250 and then 100? Are these values for monsters that are sensitive to light, or will for example Ungoliant, the Unlight take double damage?

                              The first is regular light (like light hounds breathe), and will damage anything. The second is weak light (like when you light a room), and only hurts light-sensitive monsters. So Ungoliant will be hurt by both.
