... and that's how the hilt of Narsil became my horse's gear shifter.

You could start out with the fully-statted sword with awesome abilities, but every time you used it there was a chance it'd break and lose some fraction of its power. Eventually you'd end up with a 1d1 hilt that gave you some tiny ability or stat bonus.

Inventory storage system that uses a grid system, like Diablo, with no stacking of similar objects. 6x10.

Orc and Easterling civilians (smiths, scouts, craftsmen etc) should appear in the entire dungeon. Since hunting down shouters is annoying (as anyone that have ever tried to use the 100' forge can attest to) their behaviour should be changed so that they panic very easily/immediatly, at which point they'll retreat screaming through the nearest staircase, causing a patrol to show up a few turns later.

Would make angband feel more like a fortress where beings actually live and less like an infested hole in the ground, and would also introduce MORAL CHOICES for the player murderhobo/character.

At the very least, wolves should eat any strips of dried meat they find on the ground. They should pathfind to them, too, so you can use meat as a decoy.

Let me dip meat in potions of poison and use that as a means of killing wolves and a secondary use for negative potions.

This is supposed to be a BAD ideas thread...

Why take the stairs when you can build an elevator?

Build a horn of blasting. Drop, rest, drop, .....
A horn of terror covers 99% of the gaps in song of elbereth & vis versa ( I think all that your left with is horrors, deathblades & grotesgues), so jeweler/channeling/elbereth on a 5 grace feanor.

Of course there's still the throne room & the elevator only goes 1 way, but I'd be curious how far you could get this way.

Make sure to record all your attempts so if you get a good one it's preserved, please! (You can use Open Broadcasting Software to record locally even if not streaming)
Also, I'm pretty sure turning off animations/delays would save the time it takes to turn them off (assuming you can't just start with them disabled). It's, what, 0.25 of a second every time a number appears? And lots of numbers appear.

BTW, for reference, the fastest real time ascension of Nethack is about 2 hours (a more complicated game) and the fastest real time ascension of DCSS is about 1 hour (a less complicated game), although both of these are from people who have put extensive practice into going fast.

Any% best ending does sound like the best for 3 silmarils+escape+morgoth slain 100% would imply all artifacts obtained and all uniques killed.

The big thing to note about options menu modification however is most of the time saving you talk of is really really small, and might not be worth the ESC b22688844444 Esc ESC combination it took me 3.4 seconds to do that entire task, one big problem is that one has to press esc then b then 2, all 3 of these key's are quite far away on the keyboard, and you do this after pressing enter so your right hand is already entering the numpad, then you have to go move the left hand to . for the mashing of .(number) which sil requires you to mash like a crazy person do you save more than 3.4 seconds of time by doing the menu modifications?
Here are some (terrible) attempts at getting a good run in sil any% the big things to note from speedrunning vs casual play are
    1. you can't ever press l
    2. you have to memorize what every color of o means
    3. you have to read quickly
    4. you need to be mashing . in order to constantly be running
    5. You need to have memorized your build order and have to be FAST in the menu's
    6. you can't disable flaming arrow (pressing @abf6 Esc esc is a whole second!)
