Are in mentioned in the Silmarillion? The concept seems more Moorcockian than Tolkien.

    Ah, that makes sense.

I initially assumed I'd been hit by a sleeping monster the other side of me so I took a step in the "wrong" direction which meant I was pretty much doomed.

It IS a sword. One of the best.

You had a lot of song skill, but no good songs, you should try lorien (and maybe later mastery) with this kind of build.

Oh, I did that with my almost-pacifist. Perhaps Psi has too. Seems like Grond could be the weapon of choice for the crown for any archer strong enough to kill Morgoth but who doesn't have any melee and doesn't have a sharp weapon (or Song of Sharpness).

We try not to bind ourselves to any (public) release schedules. The notes on previous versions can be found in the lib/docs folder. Indeed they have changes going back many years.

Heh, I think Psi mentioned missing the crown on one of his characters. Something about Grond and no melee. But essentially, what you need for the crown is sharpness. After that, it depends exactly on how you've been doing damage. It may turn out to be best to chug STR, eat Rage and grab a massive weapon. But angrist is obviously best. Also helps for grotesques.

It gets an evasion roll (with evasion 0), so you're right that you're very unlikely to miss. However, Sil has a system of multiple criticals, and the more you hit by the more criticals you are likely to get. See the manual for details.

Hey sorry for keep asking the same question over and over, but why do you need high melee if you cannot miss the target when getting a Sil? It doesn't have an evasion roll does it? And therefore it must always do a critical hit right?

If you want to disarm false floors reliably and want to find every trap not only most traps, it is handy I guess you don't exactly need it, but when I find +4 perception rings with a high perception character, I rather take these than any other ring that is completely unrelated to my fields of competence.
