Hi Shockbolt. We usually talk with Jeff about how great would be to use your awesome tileset in the new NPP. It's a fantastic art work. I could be possible that you draw some of the missing tiles for the new NPP items like traps and terrain?
    Thank you!

Thanks Nick, I'll check out that thread right away.

Angband getting a rewrite, I do like the sound of that, maybe the 2.5D walls and doors can get into the new version, if they haven't been added already

Downloaded the most recent version of Angband now, trying to find out what's been tweaked since last time I played it.

Feel free to use the current Angband-Shockbolt tileset for NPP, as long as NPP is a non profit project

I can help create new tiles for you for free, if they can also be added to the Angband-Shockbolt tileset as well.

If the new tiles need to be exclusive for NPP, then I've charged $10 in the past per tile for other games/variants (up to sizes 128x128 pixels or 128x256 for taller tiles).

Typically I spend 10-30 minutes on a tile, so I won't get rich from painting them, but every dollar of income helps towards purchasing software upgrades and hardware upgrades on my end

Thanks! We don't have a problem about including the new tiles in the vanilla tileset. It´s a great idea. We will contact you very soon for details about the new tiles.
          Thanks again!

Shockbolt, your tiles are so detailed and have such a distinct style. Really awesome.

But the reason I don't play with them, is that they don't pop out against the background tiles, as in, they're often very hard to read.

I'd love it if there was some change you could make to maybe the dungeon tiles, or the sprites themselves, that would make your sprites pop/read?

It might have something to do with screen type/screen brightness/contrast/color-settings. In any case, I'll revisit the wall/floor tiles also and see if they are in for an update as well

                    LOVE the new townies!
Can't wait to slaughter them in cold blood...

EDIT: Did Takkaria tell you about the new townspeople?

Years of fiddling around in Photoshop and various other softwares, sometimes over 16 hours a day

I Start out with a general idea of what their posé should look like, blocking out a rough shape using solid black. Then I add color to the black blobs, and smudge out the color. Then details are added by various techniques, lastly, the shadow is added to the image in a separate layer. For Angband, and many other games, I paint the tiles 2x their final size, getting more details out of them when resizing from 128x128 pixels to 64x64 pixels.

I haven't had a chat with Takkaria in a long while, so I didn't know about the new townspeople, but we gotta get some tiles done for them as well

Made these two this morning, a tipsy elf and a traditional Norwegian Santa, from our folklore:

Experimenting with new walls and floor tiles, seen here is a new wall tile 4 new floor tiles, which should make everything easier to read in game:

Fantastic! Somehow they seem suitably Tolkienian - festive yet slightly menacing.
