Wizard mode monster placement / knowledge

I'm trying to test whether Reveal Monsters reveals mimics (https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugr...cgi?bug=781749). But in wizard mode I can only create a monster next to me, and then it stays visible on my map even when I move round the corner. So either I need to be able to specify that the monster should be generated not next to me, or I need to be able to forget what I know about the level. Anyone have any views on which would be easier or more desirable? I'm happy to write a patch to test it ...

Oh, and if anyone knows the answer to my question, do tell!

It doesn't detect monsters - unrevealed mimics are specifically excluded from any monster detection.

As for your issue, I tend to deal with that sort of situation by running in gdb and setting a break on creation of a mimic.

Ah, then this isn't a bug at all, it's WAD! Thanks.

I would have answered better if I'd actually read the bug you linked
