This leads me to believe that O is entirely devoid of failsafe escapes, or that you're grossly exaggerating (or really bad at O 8)).

I don't think connected stairs are really much of an issue. My current Tinker Bell has them turned off and is doing no worse than the previous ones. She hasn't yet been in a situation where it would matter.

        Paranoia

This is silly, really, but fun; I can't imagine the last time I spent a *band game is such continuous fear of death..

..and my best (and current) is still only clvl 13, just got the nerve to dive a tiny amount. We'll see..

          Win 7 64

Hey is anyone running this version of O on a 64bit Win7 Machine? I can't open it at all on mine. Could be me, however.

So far my characters have been killed by a white worm mass, a novice ranger, a mirkwood spider and a cave spider. This is depressing.

Okay. This is annoying. Tinker Bell IV is up to clevel 28 now, but O is crashing with the helpful message "software bug". When I restart it crashes again with the same message.

EDIT: And now, mysteriously, it is working again, although the crash had the side effect of letting a player ghost vampire double move me. But I'm still alive.

Posted a dump, in case I am not so "lucky" next time.

Died not long after that, of unrelated causes.

There was a sporadic crash bug (IIRC) in both O and FA which seemed to mainly happen in Windows and mostly when people were digging. I don't think I ever tracked it down; this could be that.

This was on FreeBSD, and not digging. I've seen this once before. The symptoms are that it dies with the message "software bug" and that it loads the savefile okay on restart and then possibly dies again on after a single command, depending on which command that is.

There's a little glitch in the 32x32 graphics concerning Wormtounge and novice priests. This revised graf-dvg.prf fixes both. Nick, you'll want to add this to the official download.

                                i play on win7 64 fine,

also this game is not bad,

also ~ the double stair thing sucks, imo~

this comes from the biggest advocate of stair abuse this forum has seen.

                                please, no rage~
