Never played O before. It's nice to see it has tile support and a tile set. Is there any particular reason connected stairs is on?

There should be another savefile named Tinker_B. That's the one you have to load

Tried that, didn't work. It was apparently saved only under 105 and Oangband can't load that one without going back to the original.

Well if you reloaded the 105, then saved (or quit), that would have overwritten your old tinker_b with a new one identical to 105. The system is obviously flawed if you think about it.

I don't intended to win . But certainly you realize that O, like FA, has the 1 up, 2 down staircases, the magic elevator as I like to call it. It's even more exploitable than "regular" stair scumming.

Is there an "always show lists" option that I'm missing? How about auto-pickup?

Considering that invisible stalker is making intesive use of the elevator, it is possible that it was his intention for this to be played much like TOME ghost mode or whatever it's called. After all with 100 hp you die almost instantly no matter where you are.
Maybe we can turn this into the special stairscumming competition to see how far we can take that. Go go 100k turn win?


Those options are 'o' and 'r' for me in the gameplay menu.

FA doesn't have it any more. In O, I would recommend you exploit it as much as you like - at some point you'll have to leave the stairs and get nailed by something fast and vicious

show_lists: yes. The pickup options are a little weird ISTR, but I generally play with autopickup, so it is possible.

Only because I hadn't realised there is a disconnected stairs option. I would have expected it in birth options and didn't look closely at the gameplay options.

how else do you get from floor 15 to floor 40 without leveling up?

Word of Recall. Twice. Once to town to restock, and once back down to my max depth. I don't remember what my max depth was at that point, but I certainly wasn't able to kill much between it and dlevel 40.

TY. IMO the options are poorly grouped. Some related options being under 'interface' and others being under 'game play'. Found auto-pickup too, thanks again.

I would suggest that in the event of another O comp we turn connected stairs on as well, not because you can change it(I firmly believe that everyone here(atleast everyone who would play an O competition) will not cheat), disconnected stairs pretty much amounts to an immediate death very soon.

Not convinced. I have not yet taken stairs that would have made a difference were they not connected; now granted I have died a lot, but that has not been the cause .
