    Competition 66

Competition 66 is now available from the competition page; it is a TinyAngband human warrior. TinyAngband, for the uninitiated is kind of Entroband meets Quickband; as befits a quick game, this comp will only run for two weeks.

Note that comp 65 still doesn't close until the 22nd of March.
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne

Who-hoo! Although it's a bit of a cheek I do intend to enter this one. Note that (although I've messed about with the code before quite a bit) I've never actually got a character much past DLVL 6 (to my recollection) So I don't think I really have an unfair (or any other sort of) advantage.

      Important

A bug occurring only when buying things in the English version has been found (and now fixed). The new binary / source code can be downloaded from home page.

I'm really sorry for the inconvenience.

Unless you download binary or sources after March 16 2009, 14:16 GMT,
        please download tinyangband again.
(Old one has serious bug in buying phase.)

By the way, you can win at level 30-33 in TinyAngband
though your character can level up to 50.
        Good Luck.

Survived a Death sword by sheer luck (and hit points ;-)
Accidentally recalled away from a quest level :-(
(Must remember to inscribe !r on my word of recall scrolls)

Taking a break before I have a YASD to report.
(No occurrence of 'center_player' or 'inventory list' bugs)

            Okay,
I made deathswords weakend (their blows are halved),
and released version 0.0.3a a little while ago.

So, you are able to survive easier than before.

My Valar patron has a twisted sense of humour.

              The Amulet of Adornment 'Nimas' (-7) {cursed, Dx;Fi;SiXITeAgCu}
              It affects your dexterity.
              It provides resistance to fire.
              It provides permanent light.
It allows you to see invisible monsters.
              It drains experience.
              It induces random teleportation.
              It aggravates nearby creatures.
              It is heavily cursed.
It cannot be harmed by the elements.

Yeah, thanks a lot there Nessa.

              [EDIT] Oops, I'm dead. ^ ^;

                just a few questions:

                how does item forging work?
                are statues good for anything?
                are there stat potions?
how do you setup the term windows?
is there a faq for tiny?

I can deliver a partial answer here: you can only forge ego items, and it turns them into artifacts, preserving the original attributes and adding a few more. The one time I've tried it, it was an armor of elvenkind, and it added +1 to CON and Stealth.. which wasn't really worth it for the 101k price tag.

                    are statues good for anything?
If it's anything like Heng, then no.. except if they're made out of something expensive they'll have a decent sale value. If you throw figurines on the other hand, they should turn into pets. Haven't tried it though.
                    are there stat potions?
                    Don't think so.

                    Don't know about term windows.

There should be plenty in the Alchemist - if there isn't, buying out his stock will force him to restock and he will usually have *ID* scrolls.

Term windows you get with = (options) the W (window flags)

There aren't stat pots, but you get enough stat gains from levelups that you get nearly 18/100 internal in the key stats - my winner (clvl 35) got to 18/100 CON and DEX, 18/67 STR.

thanks for the help with the term windows, W isnt a visible option, I should have though to try it anyway...

another question, the wire rings? is it possoble to uncurse them? does hold life from my star counter the exp drain?

The heavy curse on Wraith Rings (wire in this comp) can be uncursed with scrolls of *Remove Curse*, which should be regularly available at the temple (they're pricey, though). Hold Life won't protect you, but the exp drain is very very slow, not near fast enough to keep you from wearing them (just don't townscum - remember you can rest at the inn which accomplishes the same purpose). In my current game I'm wearing two of them. Make sure they don't aggravate or have other bad effects, though - some of them have ancient curses, which I don't think can be removed.

Apparently there's a bug that left one line of the Options menu not included. (If you know 'W' it still works, right?)
