how does a staff of wishing work?

Type object name exactly that you want when you use the staff.
You can get normal items certainly, but you often fail to wish artifacts and ego items.

I'd wear Galeg - +60 dam/round is very handy and CON is vital, so +4 is very helpful. You have plenty of speed so the +3 speed one isn't much of a gain, you have no better hats than the Seeing one so no point in wearing the ESP amulet. RConf from Mineb or the Magi would be nice but not at the expense of what Galeg offers.

thanks, I've never had eq like this before. Its a bit overwhelming trying to sot thru it.

I'd also wear the Ring of Lordly Protection for RConf (and RDisenchant), then it's a choice between Barahir's +1 to all stats (Poison being covered by the RoLP) or a +4 Speed ring - I'm not sure which I'd choose. Possibly even the ring of Strength if it gets you an extra blow with Ringil (though I doubt it does).
