Darn it, I didn't realize this comp. had such a short run time. I may not get to take a (serious) shot at it.

Considering the extraordinarily high learning curve of Entro - even by *banding standards - and the sheer enormity of the game world, I think we may want to consider extending the deadline of comp 64. Especially given the fact that for half of its run-life it's been tucked behind comp 63.

yeah, it does have a bit of a learning curve. I would be happy to see the comp extended, but I'm biased!

I have given it two tries myself, and not got past the yeeks. one was a silly death (seeing how fast I could go), the other was to some dark elf mage that was ood and me being out of practice. try #3 coming soon

OK, end date is now the 1st of March. Anyone unhappy with that, let me know.

OK. Finally started this comp. Not only my first crack at Entro but also my first variant without graphics. Surely one of these anonymous letters will kill me but right now I have a different problem. I've descended to level 5 of the Yeek Cave and can't find any more down staircases or Baldor. What am I doing wrong?

The wargs you've been finding are a quest. Kill some more.

I've cleared the whole level, but those Wargs are so fast, and I'm so stealthy, It's possible I missed a couple of them.

Nick, thanks for taking the time to check the ladder, I applicate it.

The other thing is that the only quest I signed up for is Old Man Willow. I guess this is one of those 'princess-type' quests (I think I read that somewhere).

OK. ctrl-q to view quests. It would be nice if there was an in game message.

The submitted savefile had already taken the Wolves quest, which is why you have the quest without having taking it yourself.

Ninjas get low-fail detect *everything* early! Costs a few HP, but whatever. The Wargs are the first thing I do everytime, since they give bagsful of XP.

Please explain.... well, never mind. It seems that there's enough that I don't know that I'm going to have to break down and read the help files, they are in English, aren't they?

Killed Baldor. I received an in-game message at the time (I don't remember the message exactly) but it doesn't show up as a completed quest. I still have his body stored in my home. Is this normal?

Dungeon masters, as a rule, aren't a part of any quest. They do, however, drop a guaranteed item. Boldor's drop is particularly crucial for ninjas.

                          If you're the psychotic/sentimental type...

Unique corpses are only useful if they're "wanted" - the game will autoinscribe them if they are, and then you can return them to the sheriff's office in Outpost for a reward.

Ninjas can use Ninjutsu on 'm'. Including useful stuff like Darkness, Phase Door, Detection, Attack+Phase Door, Teleport...

Baldor's rotting corpse hidden away securely under my floor boards, you make it sound like a bad thing.

And if I may comment, the Kamikaze Yeeks need to be a different color, they blend in too well with the brown variety.

Does the monster of the day also get auto-inscribed, or do I have to check back every day and then remember what it is?

What about the special monster ($$big reward$$), does it ever change?

What's with the museum, or is that all too common of a question? I donated to it (???) and even read the help files and I'm pretty sure it's useless, right?

Oh yeah, and the game needs graphics. Though a little rough around the edges I like the new concepts, but I'll probably never play it outside of competition without graphics. I guess I need something to look at, to keep me entertained.

                                Agreed.

My understanding is that it gets auto-inscribed, but you have to check back every day to see what it is. (If you consider it worthwhile, that is).

What about the special monster ($$big reward$$), does it ever change?
No, but it is irrelevantly rare.

It's like the Mathom-house in ToME, it's a place to put artifacts/interesting items that you don't have room for in your home, but don't want to sell either. Game-play wise, yes it's pointless.

Oh yeah, and the game needs graphics. Though a little rough around the edges I like the new concepts, but I'll probably never play it outside of competition without graphics. I guess I need something to look at, to keep me entertained.
I can't understand how anyone can play *bands other than in ASCII, but to each his own...
