I've found a Ring of Delving. It supposedly turns Stone to Mud when you aim it. I put it on and tried 'a'im, 'z'ap, 'u'se, and 'A'ctivate all without success. What's the secret???
Perhaps I just have to let it charge up first?

    Entry deleted. Please try again

I will modify it to refuse the dump if no name is provided.

If the character history was included in the char dumps, then a lot of that info is already displayed. It's being tracked but not printed out:

    Turncount
    Experience
Score (this doesn't get talked about much...)
    Number of uniques killed
    Deepest unique killed
    Gold
    Number of artifacts found
    Deepest artifact found
    Most valuable artifact found

NPP does the basic uniques killed and artifacts found thing very nicely, so there should be some kind of V-friendly patch out there somewhere... I hope!

Seeing this seems to be the week for lists, here we go:
    • Turncount
    • Experience
    • Score (this doesn't get talked about much...)
    • "Player turns" (a la NPP)
    • Number of uniques killed
    • Deepest unique killed
    • Deepest monster killed
    • Gold
    • Number of artifacts found
    • Deepest artifact found
    • Most valuable artifact found
    • Real time taken (whether from some future internal clock or just elapsed since game start)
    • Character name (sorry takkaria )
    • Other variant specific info (like deepest dungeon guardian in FA, or deepest completed quest in NPP)

Some of those are already there, obviously.

On reflection, I think "No" is the best answer - keeps it simple, and stops people getting into bad competition habits for variants without quickstart (or with a different one).

I'd say no. How hard is it to make a copy of or re-download the original save file.

the only differences I can think of would be monster memory and different items in the stores. It would also prevent you from metagaming item flavors.
