I figure that Bloodlust makes you attack instead of taking other actions; this makes it more dangerous than i figured, so im not sure if i will use it in the Morgoth fight - too much randomness. However, on the plus side, i got breathed on and was taken to -45hp !! and survived.
(probably would not have gone down to -45 *if* bloodlust wasn't preventing me from drinking a heal, but that's the game)

I dread to think if you still got Balrog pits in this release.
Also, the new Ainur, a pit of those is waaaaaaaay too much for anyone that doesnt have Banishment.

Yeah, Sauron killed me quite fast because of that. I was dumb enough to cast bloodlust several times before the fight. Big mistake! For lesser enemies Bloodlust is great.

when reading multiple scrolls of *enchant weapon, it automatically selects the previous target (i.e. my sword, cannot select bow); this may be good, or bad. It makes it easier to spam but also a bit counterintutive for newbies.

This is the way it traditionally was; it's been broken for a while, but now it's fixed.

as a whole, i feel the game is substantially harder right now. am i crazy, or was the AI for the hounds changed? Ether hounds are now incredibly deadly.
Tons of dragon summons, and tons of summons in general. I can see teleportation making a big comeback.

.. i see that you wisely decided to change Astral hounds into "hounds of Tindalos", so named after that famous Tolkien book "The Hounds of Tindalos".

it took me 14 rounds to kill Sauron, although i was under 600hp for the last 2, so make that 15 including 1 heal. (i only have 29 Heal and 12 *Heal, didn't want to waste any )

fight with morgoth wasn't so easy. Runes got broken 4 in 1 hit and one in 2. Rubbish.
Huan tried to kill me and nearly succeeded.
I did cast bloodlust (for science) and immediately started lashing out; i didnt actually kill anything else, which meant i dropped out of bloodlust for the rest of the fight. Slow never set in. Still, 615 dps x 35 Spd will do the trick.

              SH**T
i forgot to throw that axe i found.
Do artifact thrown weapons return automatically, or are they dropped?

              anyway ...

              The new blackguard is good.

I have used leap a couple times, whirlwind quite often, main foe i only used a few times but it always worked, i will look into this more but i suspect this may be a bit too strong. I never used quake (it's just quake), i would have used grim purpose and that-stat-restore spell more if i didnt have pConf pStun and sustains + restoration already.

Bloodlust is great when the enemy mobs have a known, steady damage output - but not good when they have random high-damage spikes. Ungoliant, for example, was easy.

However, i would say that the damage output is still too high, even considering all the other penalties; lashing out is the only serious one, and can be mitigated. Slow is irrelevant (only kicks in once all enemies are dead)
and the wounds are trivial. The cure CON spell also removes any issues from the CON drain.

I have not tried werewolf form on its own; i would like that i can see my weapon stats when in WW form, which i can't - i just see that i get an extra blow.
Never mind the +1 blows artifact i had - there was a dragon armor arti with +2 blows, which sadly was not the dragon armor art i did find. +1 blows is nearly the same as a good ring of damage or speed.

the aggravate mobs spell wasn't necessary as it seems like i already was aggravating without it.

I did use Venom a couple times (before finding brands) and it's a good spell, sits well in the early-midgame.

Thanks for reporting this game, it's really useful. Yes, the game should be harder now. Yes, I know hounds of Tindalos aren't a Tolkien thing, but nor are hounds generally, and they just seem to fit right in

as a final note on 4.2.1,

Reverting to the older darker tile is much better; not only does it look like a dungeon and not sand, but the color helps with the contrast.

I don't like ANY of the new individual mob tiles. Both the ones which were changed, and the new-new ones. Webs look ok, books look horrible. Not sure what webs are supposed to do, i just walk over them.

4.2.1 seems much more "active" as a game. 4.1.3 is far easier to control, now that i have learned everything. It's easier to find a spot where hounds will not follow you, passwall mobs are rare, as far as i can tell there are less summons, while in 4.2.1 mobs are more aggressive.

The new C screen is obviously confusing, as it's new. I approve that it has more info, but most of those are not that useful. You're not likely to need the checkmark for "prevents TP" because it's just THAT rare to even wear an item with it for longer than 1 turn. Same for drain xp, stuck on

On the plus side, i see that now mages have default points in CON instead of DEX, which is wise.

Blackguards really need their own tiles for the player, instead of using the warrior default.

There are MAJOR lag issues which imho should have been addressed in development, not in release.

There's tons of magic books lying around. Only having to carry 3 is a big change is inventory management, also. Obviously less books - less spells. But in 4.1.3 many of the spells are not useful anyway. I would need to play a mage to tell if it is too unbalanced of a change. Also, more high level books = more money. LOTS more money.

I prefer the old shop system.

I still think egos - specifically ESP - on non-artifact weapons is overpowered.
